This is my first post here, so I want to take a moment to thank this community. I was following the development of the new Mustang for a long time, and once they hit the market, I was on this forum daily while finalizing my decision. I ended up with a base GT for Xplan price and it is in part to the fine owners here who shared their experiences.

I did some searches on the web and the forums and couldn't find any info on this. If this is a repost I'm sorry.

Is it normal for the brake pedal to be rock hard after it's sat for so long? Sometimes I have to really cram it before hitting the start button and I feel like it's not normal. There's so little play that a few times now it would just engage the accessory power mode and not start.

The car usually sits for 3-4 days a week between drives, but with what I know about brake systems this seems abnormal. But also, my last car is a 2001 Mustang, so I wasn't sure if things has changed drastically in 14 years. Thanks.

Edit: It's an automatic, so I am not using the parking brake. Thought I should mention that after post.

This has happened to me as well a handful of times but it has started each time. Curious as to why it does this though.

My 2012 BMW 335i did that sometimes, too. It always started with some heavy foot pressure on the pedal and then worked fine.

Happens to me sometimes, too, in the mornings. If I put my foot on the pedal and it's like a rock, I let my off the brake, wait a couple seconds, and brake again to start it normally. I don't like trying to force it if it doesn't let me push it with ease the first time. I don't want to wear things out prematurely if I can help it (unless the occasion inevitably calls for it ;):D).

With the few "me too"s on this thread, even one from an owner of another make, seems to me it's just something that happens. I'm in the same boat where I'm afraid to hit it too hard, but I have to be firm to get it to go down just enough so it will start and not engage the accessory mode. It also doesn't happen every time either.

Thanks for sharing your info, unless someone comes along with a clear cut warning that it's something to take in for service, I'm going to just chalk it up as a quirk of the car.
