I like rFactor, since it's one of the few simulators that has my local track (Putnam Park in Mount Meridian, Indiana). I've been using it long enough and have tweaked the settings enough times that the simulation pretty accurately simulates my car's response to throttle, steering, and braking inputs as well as its lateral grip limits. It helps that it's cheap, too!

I play Forza Motorsport. I don't have any fancy triple screens or steering wheels. Just a plain Xbox controller and a big screen.

The OSW is pretty amazing. Never gets hot or loses tq.
The HPP Pedals are pure eye candy. The brake pedal can be a workout, but it's realistic. I'd like to try the HE's one day,

Same here with waiting on Fanatec's DD. Interested to see what the price point is as it sounds like they're taking it serious and having nice features.

With all the discussions going on about simulators made me pull out my somewhat antiquated steering wheel/pedals. I have the Logitech momo racing setup that I used to race GTR evolution on PC. The force feedback in the steering is pretty good as the foot pedals are too easy to press but other than that not bad.

Not sure if its worth the upgrade to another steering wheel.... maybe someone can chime in.

Thinking about subscribing to iRacing.

Even the g25 is a solid upgrade over the old momo wheel imo. Plus having 3 pedals is nice.

i would recommend at least logitech g27 or g29 over that at this point but there is also thrustmaster tx and t300 and tspc...but price keeps climbing to fanatec csl and cswv2.5.

I just tell people if you really want to get into it try to not buy wheels that are plastic. ie: logitech and some thrustmasters. no cog wheels...belt driven. they all do the same thing in the end but pedals imo are more important than the wheel but there is a certain point where cheaper wheels are just that, cheap.

CJGT,

Thanks for the link to the Carriage Works rig. It looks like a good rig. Question about the seat. The seat in your picture doesn't look like the seat shown on CW's web site. Did you get the bare chassis and add your own seat? If I'm mistaken and that is the CW seat, how do you like it?
Yes, bare chassis then added my own seat.

Thanks for the feedback! I noticed that eBay has a used G27 for around $140 for the set. Next question, as far the split screens does that really add to the playing experience. Looks pretty awesome!

If the wheel is in good shape the g27 will serve you well. My g25 is almost 10yrs old and still serving me well. Although it's close to needing to be replaced as the pot's are finally worn on the pedals. I've cleaned them once in the time I've owned it and it's never let me down. The 27 is essentially an upgraded g25.

The triple screens are definitely advantageous over a single, it allows you to see whats just to the left and right of you and to look to the apex much easier than a larger single. If you have the computer to run it VR is the way to go imo. It's the most immersive option. But I would prefer to have a decent wheel and as stated above, good pedals before vr or triples. Because no matter how well you can see, if your inputs aren't accurate or you have issues it will ruin the experience.

1.vr
2.triples
3.single

I have the Asus Model: G11CD-B13 which is compatible for VR. As the prices come down I would like to invest in this technology.
