Does anyone know of a brand/model seat that *could* be used as a replacement for the standard leather premium driver's seat that retains the seat back tilt w/memory? Not the electronic memory, but simply the mechanical one.

Recaro's FAQ says they don't offer one, period, due to low demand. I can't find anything on Sparco either. I'm not familiar with any other brands at all, so I'm just looking for some suggestions.

I couldn't care less about retaining the heating/cooling functions, and I can even live with manual seat adjustment instead of electric, but I want that seat back to remember where I had it set when I let someone in or out of the backseat.

Racing seats don't have seat back adjusters.

Recaros most definitely offers replacement seats whether they have the mounting kit for it is another question and those are available in the aftermarket. If you want a sportier seat order the Recaro option it is cheaper by far to order them from Ford as an option then buying them in the aftermarket. If you want cloth get the cloth Recaro from the Ford parts department.

I politely disagree. The Ford versions in the Mustang offer seat back adjustment, but it's manual and doesn't remember the previous setting when you tilt it forward to let someone in/out of the backseat. In my admittedly quick research, both companies I mentioned advertise "to the millimeter" adjustments, for the perfect seat setting.

Recaro makes seats that have heating, electronic seating adjustments (forward/backward, up/down), seat bottom extension, lumbar adjustment, side bolster adjustment, shoulder adjustment, headrest adjustment, etc. They also make a model-specific one for the CTS-V that does the electronic memory.

I'm aware that the Ford Recaro's are much cheaper than aftermarket, but they don't have this one feature that I'm looking for, because Recaro does not offer that feature. I'm asking if any other manufacturers might. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has wanted a Recaro-type seat that offers this function.

I'm not sure exactly how to explain what it is that I'm looking for. Yeah, the Recaro's (even the Ford ones for the 2015) offer the ability to tilt the seat forward to allow occupants to enter and leave the back seat (back seat release).

The new 2015 regular seats are bringing back a feature that Mustangs haven't had for about 10 years, the ability to mechanically remember the tilt angle you had the seat adjusted to when you let someone in or out of the back seat. My Mach 1 did this, as have many of my other old Mustangs, but my 2011 and 2013 did not. So, if you let someone in and/or out of the back seat, you have to manually readjust your seat back again. It returns to a default (almost perfectly upright) position.

Not sure if they have what you are looking for but give corbeau a shot.

I assumed the recaros mentioned would go back to their previously set recline angle, but it sounds like I may not have understood their operation.

I also was looking at the Corbeau seats, and they do mention a feature to return the seat to an upright position, but that seemed to be more along the lines of what you did not want.

Really seems strange that this feature isn't out there. Seems like a no-brainer to offer it. I had assumed it was part of the Recaro options already, but I guess not.

Yup, I just got done looking at the Corbeau's and noticed that as well. At first, I misread it and said: "JACKPOT!" - Then I re-read and was like, they're advertising that as a "feature" when every other seat does that. :p

I think it's strange that it's not offered too. It seems like a fairly normal thing to offer, to me at least.

The standard seats are a definite step up from the current car. Are you trying to save weight or is there some other reason you want to change?

I'm looking to AutoX (SCCA solo) with my 2015. I'm sure I can get by on the standard seats, but it won't be as good. Plus, I'd like to leave one nice heated/cooled seat in the passenger side for the wife and kids to enjoy.

They are NOT racing seats. Racing seats don't adjust. There is not a race series anywhere that would allow that. They are sports seats or performance seats they aren't for racing.
My sincerest apologies if I've used the incorrect terminology. I'll thank you not to get out the cat o' nine tails for me.
