This weekend my wife and I took my new Race Red GT Base on it's 1st road trip. We picked the car up on Thursday from Mike Castrucci Ford in Milford, OH after a miserable COTUS driven patience tester; the wait was totally worth it!

First impressions: Quality is so much higher than the outgoing gen. I have owned a 2010 GT, 2011 V6, 2013 GT and now this 2015 and I am so happy! Mike Castrucci lent me a Premium Package while I was waiting on my car to arrive; it was sweet; the driving modes were very distinct; the leather was really nice too; but I am totally psyched with the interior of my base.

The cloth seats are way grippier then the leather seats, the 4 inch screen in the console is perfect, heck I don't need a flat screen in my car and running my phone through bluetooth covers everything I need as far as Nav, phone, texting, music etc. I prefer the base rear diffuser being all one color; the premium 2 color set-up is very cool, I would have been happy with that too, but nearly every car out there has some sort of dual color/contrast scheme these days. The smooth diffuser looks so clean and serious. I dig it.

Wheels- Yah, I gotta ditch the base 18's) although they are nice for now. My ideal wheel/tire combo will be TSW Interlagos, black, 19x9 square set-up with General G-Max AS-03. I hope TSW makes some that work on the 15's... fyi- my Base Wheels/tires are for sale in the Private Seller/Vender section for a grand.

Driving it: Our drive from Covington, KY to Ashland, KY took us over some mile long hills, sweepers, straightaways, long stretches of flat roads, smooth pavement, broken pavement etc. This car is so much more impressive than the 13, felt totally hunkered down, the chassis really let me know what the road surface was like, no more solid-axle side hop; incredible outward visibility (one of my favorite details of the new design is the increased space between the A-pillar and the side mirrors). On our way back I took the car down Route 8 along the Ohio River. I hated driving the 13 down that road (off-camber, broken pavement, etc) and would avoid it. The 15 was stellar there, those 8 miles of road sum up the newly developed skills this generation Mustang has and I am again, really really psyched with this car.

Mileage: Over the 280 miles I averaged 24.3 mpg. There was a stretch this morning when we started out, 70 mph in 6th the readout was showing 27.7, but this obviously came down once we got into the hills. Never took her about 4K rpm. I can be satisfied with 24-25 mg. The range before Empty was showing 223 when we got home (started with a full tank this morning).

These Mustangs are totally bad-ass. Thank you FORD! Pics- mpg, the rear end (the ass of the 15 Mustang is second only to my wife's ass and that is really saying something!) and side view.

I know everyone is gonna love theirs!

Very nice! I'm looking at Race Red myself. I keep going back and forth over Base vs Premium, trying to decide how much I really need the upgrades.

Is your car manual or auto? I'm curious to know if auto increases mpg much, as many other members are reporting much lower mpg figures...

Hello Branden,

My car is a 6 speed, not sure what the auto folks have been seeing as far as mpgs. I am interested to see how things pan out after we all have over a 1000 miles under our tires. I run 3.55 gears too btw.

The premium cars are really sweet, I mean, really sweet. You just have to spend time in both I think then decide. In either case, stepping up to the new generation I believe you will be extremely pleased with what you get.

I actually don't like leather seats, but didn't want Recaros with limited adjustment, so the base was the way to go for me.

I had an Audi TT in college and my back would get sweaty and stick to the leather on really hot days. When I sold it and bought my 2011 GT, I purposely went with cloth because of that.

During the first winter in my GT the cloth seats developed really bad static and would cause my shirts to stick to me every time I got in an out. I was suckered into one of those "stain resistant interior coatings" and didn't know if the coating caused the static, or if it was just the seats.

Any opinion on that? Have you noticed any static with the cloth? They '15 cloth seats look infinitely better than the outgoing model.

Wow, nice car. Congrats! Nice gas mileage too, right out of the box.

The one-color rear is nice too - it sort of reminds me of the rear valance on the 1987 Mustang GT, at least the part below the taillights.

I like the color and the car, and glad you're happy with it!

So the cell phone navigation can be used on the car through bluetooth?

No

Also... Looking NICE. I was very close to getting a base GT, same color, same exact options. Went with a loaded EB instead, because it made more sense for me. But, this looks pretty nice as well.

Having seen your car finally in person today and reviewing your stats, I wish you a hearty CONGRATULATIONS! The new tire set-up looks fantastic with your car. And thanks for those tires!
