So if I get a CAI, FMIC, and FR exhaust do I need to get tune for these add ons or will these bolt themselves add to the performance?

I'm not sold on getting a tune just because of warranty issues.

It will not make significant changes to any curve, but it will sure sound cool.

Really? so you think the Ford dealer will overlook all the super obvious bolt on parts but decide to void the warranty over a tune which is not visible at all.. lol.

You will gain a bit of power with the bolt on' s but it will also be leaving the majority of it untapped without a tune. If you are that paranoid I suggest leaving it stock.

Bahahahaha. Just flash to stock before you bring it in for service. And when you do bring it on for service with bolt ons, bring donuts. Service writers love donuts.

Not sure if it is the case with this car, but on some vehicles running a cai without a supporting tune isn't a great idea as the cai can lean things out a bit too much.

Out of all the mods you listed, the tune itself will produce the best results. And, those mods will only bring more performance to the table with a tune. You are putting the cart before the horse for sure.

It's a turbocharged car. You will break things if you add parts, especially flow mods without tuning. For example free flowing exhausts will cause over boost conditions which can cause very bad things to your motor.

This is true for most applications. I have asked over and over if taking the cat will cause such conditions that you have said are 110% wrong. Lean conditions and overboost are things that happen to turbo charged cars without tunes.

I'd definitely tune it, but the dealer CAN see that it has been tuned even when flashing back to stock.

If you're worried about your warranty you should probably just wait till it's expired before modding. At best those mods will add some performance, but no where near what they would with a tune. At worse the factory tune won't be able to account for the changes in airflow, etc and the car will run worse, or you could potentially damage something.

If you're worried about a tune, just wait until FRPP puts theirs out. Look at the ST cars, they have power packs with bolt ons and a tune.

On this car you can add an intake without tuning because it is speed density. The computer will compensate for the extra air on that end, however when you change the exhaust, especially a catless downpipe, you are allowing the turbo to spin more freely. The computer will not be able to control the boost as easily and you WILL get boost spikes and creep if you stay with the stock tune. Reason why is because the computer is set to hit a specific WGDC (Wastegate Duty Cycle). It will hit its intended target, but the problem is when you do flow mods it takes less WGDC to hit the same amount of boost. This is how the computer controls boost. It's the same on almost every turbocharged car that boost is control electronically.

When you boost spike the computer can not compensate for the extra air fast enough, puts in the same amount of fuel... do the math. More air with only the same amount of fuel will lean out the mixture. A mix that is too lean will cause detonation which will ventilate your block.
