Guess I need to adjust then because the simply aren't matching the performance I've had in the past - thanks for the info.
They aren't the best hid's out there, mainly due to the fresnel rather than clear lens. Adjusting the height is simple:

He's referring to flashing it in daylight; what's called a "hot restrike". It's not really an issue with current oem ballasts and lights, but it used to cause significantly shortened life spans if done regularly.
Duh I guess that makes sense haha. Although I don't know how old you'd have to go back, my 2001 audi had automatic headlight and I never had a bulb or ballast issue in the almost 4 yrs I owned the car. Side note: any thread on you upgrading your projectors or photos? I've been thinking about doing it as well

Assuming that Audi had HID and not halogen low beams, it most likely had halogen high beams. Even most cars today that factory equipped with hid but are not using bi-xenon continue use halogen in the high beam. FYI - I've been driving since around the time Audis magically jumped into gear a drove through garage walls. :)

I don't really have a build thread on the lights; they were done by a company that is already out of business...

They do seem to be aimed low from the plant.

yea you're probably right. they do take a bit longer than average to automatically turn on though, and with the tech where it stands today i can't see it being that detrimental that you'd have to worry about burning them out bc they turn on and off a few times a day.

also did you do the 5k CBI upgrade for the stockers then move to the evo projectors or did you jump right into the retrofit?

I did the 5k in my oem lights. In the projectors I'm running a 6.5k

I would love to have an option in the brightness setting to have full brightness of the dash even when the headlights are on. It's very useful when driving towards the sun in the morning or at evening. I like having the lights on so people can see my car also I want to be able to see the dash when I wear sunglasses with headlights on..

how big of a difference did you see over stock with each upgrade? do you see much of an output drop off with 6.5k over 5k or are the projectors that much better that its hard to tell? sorry for all the questions it just something I've been thinking about since i got the car and not many people have done

4.3 - 5k output was probably about the same, but more white than yellow. I also think the lumen output is higher on the 5k Osram, but I'm too lazy to check at the moment.

There's definitely no drop between the 5k in the oem projectors and the 6.5k in the evox-r projectors, quite the opposite. I can only image how bright they would be with a 5k - a Q-Beam comes to mind. ;)

haha nice. you clearly know far more than i so ill ask - the fresnel lens allows it to be a smaller design for the same amount of output is that right? Did you explore the option of just replacing the lens or did you just jump right to the other projector for the guaranteed improvement? were there any sizing or clearance issues?
