There is a reason "proper" HIDs are pure white. Read up on the kelvin scale light spectrum and you will find that around 3000k is the area that the human eye can detect the most light. Kiddies seem to think around 8000k looks kool. Car manufacturers settle(today) around 4500k, and crank up the lumens to produce what you are currently seeing as OEM, HID lights today. The only reason .gov let's them put out as many lumens as they do is because of the sharp cutoff line in the light projection. It's a tightrope balancing act between the man and the customer. I hope this answers your question(s).This is a random question, but the standard HID's that came on the 13' and 14' had a crisp kind of blue hue to them. Every time I go to a dealer to check out one of their cars I forgot to look at the headlights when they're on. From what I see in pictures they look more whiteish on the 2015's. Can anyone tell me if it is the same kind of blue hue as a 13' or 14' had, or are they white now?
