Question on HID headlights

So I am wondering if everyone's headlights are the same. When I turn mine on, they go very bright for about half a second and then dim down a bit and stay at that brightness. Don't know if this is normal or not so chime in.

That's normal. It uses a higher voltage to start the arc and then reduce the voltage for continuous light output.
This is why flashing HID is bad.

I even turn off automatic headlights. I find it being too sensitive. It comes on when I drive under a bridge.

I just wish they stayed the color when they first fire up vs the boring very plain warm white they settle in at

It uses a motorized lens to output the highbeam. Flashing them is fine

He's referring to flashing it in daylight; what's called a "hot restrike". It's not really an issue with current oem ballasts and lights, but it used to cause significantly shortened life spans if done regularly.

Gotta say the headlights are a disappointment for me. Thought they'd be equivalent to bi-xenon but they aren't in terms of brightness and they seem to be aimed a bit low. I do a lot of backroads at night and they are underwhelming IMHO.

Hate to break it to you but they are bi-xenon, using Osram CBI bulbs - some of the best on the market. If they are too low, get your philips screwdriver out and adjust them, it will take more time to open the hood than to crank them up.

Short of that, upgrade the bulbs to the 5k CBIs. Next, crack them open and replace the projectors. The EvoX-R are great in mine. ;)

Guess I need to adjust then because the simply aren't matching the performance I've had in the past - thanks for the info.
