Just a question. Is it possible that those who have a large tire and dropped springs reported that it worked when the springs were new and , once broken in, they really are not a perfect fit or they only use the car as a display or show car? Has anyone found where someone did a drop and had it not work without any rubbing? Maybe they just live with the rubbing.

Good luck either way.

Keep us posted long term.
Yes i’ll let you know, especially once I get coilovers.

Looks awesome. How long have you been running this set up?

Also, same offset?
The springs have been on a couple years, the wheels/tires were on a few months when this pic was taken. Been a couple more months since (5-6 total) and like I said I haven't had any issues.
99% sure they're the same offset, the wheels are Project 6GR - TEN if you want to look them up.

A question just popped into my head for all those who like a tighter fitting wheel , aesthetically.

Do not get me wrong and all joking aside, the car looks good.

Which is more important, having the wheel look to fill the wheel well or to have the option to tune the car with bigger tires or wider tires than what comes stock? Maybe I am wrong but I tend to believe that most who install taller tires are doing it for a look and not a performance improvement. Usually, taller tires reduce final drive ratios, add unsprung weight and, in the end, slow the car down. Why would anyone want to pay for a 3.73 and reduce it to a 3.55 by putting larger tires? The car could weigh more and be slower. Oddly enough, my PP2 makes the 3.73 final drive effectively a 3.94 since the 305/30R19 are actually smaller in diameter than even the base GT (26.2" dia vs 27"). Maybe I assume all Mustang owners want the car for speed.

For me, that is the trade off - leaving room for different size tires to perform better in competition or come from the factory with the fenders and quarters tightened up from the factory to get that tight fit look but little to no room for tuning with wheels and tires. I suspect you need even more room for drag tires in the back. Not sure which way I tend to lean myself. I love how tunable the car is and maybe your tuning is to attain a stance and look.

For me, My PP2 is already at 5.25" off the ground. Lowering it an inch would put me way too close to the 4" speed bump clearance. Nowhere have I found roads so accurate that the bump height is always 4" or lower. On occasion, I have had to go up driveway aprons on a 45 to reduce scraping.

You guys are gutsier than me lowering it that low.

I also wonder if they did it from the factory, if suspension throw would also need to be reduced making for a harder ride.

Wish you success with your mods and hope no rubbing or scraping in your future.

Yeah, same offset. Perfect. Thanks brother. Ordering the tires today.

Thanks brother... Honestly I just like the look of a wider and taller tire versus going lower instead with a less aggressive side wall... Honestly, it’s nice that this set up will also fill in the fender gap... But idk, i just find it easier to not be scraping when i’m not as low. I already scrape on certain speed bumps with a 1 inch drop, i can’t imagine being any lower...

I also intend on adding expensive carbon fiber exterior mods, and would not like those to be torn off lol.

OK, now I understand better. The taller tire helps offset the lowered springs.

How do you find the ride with the lower springs? Does it tend to be harsh or jump on uneven road? Are the spring stiffer too or just lower? Curious how the handling is affected.

In the PP2, the car does feel stiffer to me. I guess the low profile tires adds to that. On occasion, I find it a little too jumpy on rather rough road in normal mode but I come from loving the stiff ride I had in my '86 Dodge Daytona. That car felt like there were steel bars for shocks with no travel but it was very confidence inspiring for me to drive it hard through the twists and turns. Mustang is even more inspiring ( and decades of improvement) and I don't mind giving up some comfort for handling.

Can't wait to see when your mods are done. Are you leaving the carbon fiber exposed or will you paint it and use it for weight reduction? Should be really cool when done.

All the best.

Honestly, the lowering springs look good, but don’t perform as you’d think... If i go over a small bump in the road, i’ll def feel the springs soak it up a bit, but not as good as if i had coil overs... I’m adding a stage 2 whipple so the coil overs will help with the rear end dipping too much when i put my foot all the way down ...

As for the carbon fibre, everything will be exposed. It’ll definitely be a work in progress... I ordered a carbon fibre diffuser from anderson composite... that’ll be here in the next couple months.

Very cool. Having a reduction in final drive may help with the wipple in the end. I hear plenty of guys reducing the final drive when they supercharge.

Can't wait to see the progress. Good luck with your project and thanks for the feedback.

Coilovers just got installed today. Haven’t been able to truly get a feel for them yet as I just got off work but for now they feel pretty good! May have to adjust once they settle but we shall see.
