I agree.... but as stated... on the starting line YOU are pulling / or reading a lot
hotter air. I am gonna seal my JLT before blasting some more runs Sunday.
It does piss you off when you are +25-40* above ambient on the line, and within 8-10* at the finish.
YOU need the max HP & TQ in the first 100ft of a drag race.

why are you sitting and idling in the staging lanes? pop the hood and push it through the lanes. put ice on your intake. get old school. no more sitting in the lanes listening to justin beiber. :D

Higgs ... LOL I don't, and believe me I have hood up, ice on, etc.

I even went so far as to take the keyboard cold spray stuff, and spray the MAF/IAT
in the staging lanes to bring temps down.

Honestly NOW, I did what I did on my SRT8 Jeep.
went to radio shack and got a potentiometer, and now my IATs constantly & consistently
show -10* below outside ambient, and are usually within 2* at all times.

Even if it doesn't really truly do anything, I feel better... LOL

Although 2 different animals altogether, my Jeep is set -15-20* below outside and
it runs a lot better... keeps everything cranked up at all times.

Intakes with a larger MAF doesn't mean it's going to make more power. That's a common misconception.
So let's say we have an intake with a removable insert like the Steeda or Roush. Assuming we had tunes for both with insert and without, we wouldn't necessarily see more power from the one without the insert? I guess I always just assumed the more air you can shove in and out, the more power you're going to make. Just curious.

Correct you won't see much if any gains no matter how big of a pipe is on the end of the throttle body. At some point there's always going to be a restriction in the way. Whether it be the 80MM throttle body or the intake manifold itself. Then you get to the heads themselves and they can only ingest so much air.

Obviously F/I changes things.

One thing was evident on the 2011 cars there were gains to be made on the exhaust side and not so much on the intake side. Nothing has changed but there are some still trying to chase that magical unicorn CAI.

I datalogged a quarter mile run a couple weeks ago. Ambient temps were 55. IAT was showing 115 in staging lanes. After my burnout, 95. After my quarter mile pass, 58. This was with my Roush CAI. Just goes to show how fast an open CAI can heat up, but cool right back down.
rite on. im thinkin if my car pulls a little timing in first gear not a big deal by the the time im hooking in second the temps will be good.
