Hello,

So I am going to be getting the GT350 Valence with Exhaust for my Mustang.

Probably the Touring version.

But I am debating between the Axel Back or full Cat Back versions.

So my question is, is there much difference between Sound and Power between Axel Back to full Cat Back for this particular series of exhaust?

Thanks

Ford Performance by Borla or another exhaust? That GT350 valence fits with a number of different aftermarket dual-tip mufflers.

Anyway if the Ford Performance part, the cat-back version will be significantly louder because it deletes the resonator in favor of a X-pipe, while the axle back retains the stock resonator.

I can't specifically answer your question, but I went with the Sport version of the GT350 exhaust catback, and given that I drive a 'vert, I had to remove the x-pipe install the Borla resonator. The sound difference with and without the resonator is HUGE.

If you go axle back, you'll still have the factory resonator, so I would think it would be significantly quieter vs the x-pipe.

Sound, yes. Power, not really. The stock resonator flows pretty well despite being heavy. The Sport catback is legit loud, the Touring more reasonable and quite easily DD-able, and won't upset anyone. It's all subjective, though. In your shoes I would go Touring CB or Sport AB. The Touring CB will be louder than the Sport AB, and will sound better, too.

On that note, how hard would it be to set it up so you can swap out the borla x-pipe for the resonator at will? Say for DD duties, you run the resonator, but on track days you want to go full race-car?

Ok, to clarify, yes I am referring to the Ford Performance quad tip with GT350 Valence Package.

So would the Axel Back Touring be louder then the stock exhaust on the GT?

And my understanding now is from the comments, the Touring Full Cat Back would be pretty loud but still not as loud as a Sport Full Catback but maybe louder then a Sport Axel Back?

The reason I am leaning towards the Touring version of Axel Back or CatBack is being in CA, those two would be legal and from the descriptions that I have read, the Sport versions are only 49 State Legal, meaning not legal in CA.

If same exact mufflers are used deleting the resonator makes a pretty big sound difference. The factory resonator does quite a bit of sound control.

No power increase. That axle back will be pretty quiet w/ stock resonator. The main difference is you will lose more weight w/ the catback.

Yes, quite a bit, but definitely not loud. 1-1.5 on a 0-5 scale, 0 being stock.

Touring Catback would be a 2-2.5, Sport is a 3-3.5 on the same scale. Touring CB definitely would be louder than Sport AB. How much is hard to know, probably close to a full point.

See responses above.

The Touring catback would meet any and all noise regulations no matter where you go. It'll be loud when you want but never obnoxious, and fairly quiet when you want, too.

I'm guessing that your understanding is correct...in cases where the mufflers are the same, a CB will be louder than a AB because of the resonator delete.

We know that Sport mufflers are louder than Touring muffles.

So, in this case a Sport CB is louder than a Touring CB (because of the mufflers) and louder than a Sport AB (because of the resonator).

I have Sport AB with factory resonator and it's fantastic in my opinion ;) . I believe that it's not only about loudness but also about sound characteristics. I have had the opportunity to test drive Sport CB and it was WAY TOO raspy under acceleration in my opinion - (I am more "deep rumble" guy).
I wouldn't go for Touring AB with factory resonator as I am afraid this setup would be very quiet.

I have posted some videos in another thread: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1573535#post1573535

BTW. my setup is also illegal in Czech Republic (only EC setup which is basically Touring + Borla resonator are legal):headbang:
