Hey everyone! This is a question that might be easier for the vendors and/or anyone who has seen all the parts in person, but does anyone know if the Ford Racing side exhaust x-pipe is a direct replacement for the x-pipe that comes in the sport or touring catbacks? I'm thinking about getting the side exhaust (I loved the sound of the Boss with the baffles removed, though that was an h-pipe, so we'll see), but I'd like to keep my stock exhaust in tact, just in case. My thoughts were to possibly get the side exhaust and the touring catback, and just swap the side exhaust for the x-pipe from the touring so that I don't have to cut the factory exhaust.

Thanks in advanc for the help!

I don't know the answer to that but we just installed the exhaust on one today and it sounds awesome. There's no baffles to be removed on this side. Probably one of the best if not the best exhaust I've heard on a 5.0 mustang in my opinion.

I've heard it quite a bit and it's a bit raspy (more mid and high tones) for my taste. Usually Borla is very deep in tone; maybe it is because they used an X pipe instead of and H.

All of the H pipe systems like Stainlessworks, ARH, MRT etc, in my opinion, sound much deeper and that traditional "gurgle" V8/muscle car tone to them.

Personally, I dont find the tone of any of the X pipe catbacks appealing and all too high pitched for a V8 muscle car (Gibson, Corsa, Ford Racing etc). Flowmaster outlaw catback is deep for an X pipe but is known to have way too much drone and rasp.

I wish Ford Racing would offer a choice H pipe with their kits. I'm not paying extra to have a custom H made on top of a $1400 exhaust system.
