TL;DR: I put a 2018 intake on my 2015 GT. Trying to identify the extra vacuum hose (no spot for it on the 2018 intake).
Picked up a take-off 2018 intake for cheap. Heard good things about it, figured I’d give it a shot.
Originally purchased the car with an Airraid intake. Found a used Steeda intake for a good price, needed a bottom box. Found a whole 2018 assembly cheap, and figured I’d get it for comparison’s sake. I’m a nerd, and data is fun… so why not?
FWIW… build quality on Ford factory intake seems miles above the Steeda. I did not appreciate the build quality or fitment of my Steeda intake. I’ll give Steeda the benefit of the doubt and say they must not all be like this. Had quite a few driveability issues with a SCT canned 91 tune (specifically for this intake)… but that’s probably tune related, not intake related. Lots of people love this intake with a custom tune.
The Airraid seems comparable to (or better than) the Ford intake quality. No driveability issues or complaints whatsoever.
Took off my Steeda pro-flow intake today to swap the 18 stock. Joke’s on me, there’s 1 less hose on the 18+ than the 15-17 stock intake.
Flashed back to stock. No codes yet. Intake feels about the same as the Steeda intake, minus the rev hang. Ironically, the 0-60 time seems to be about 0.2 seconds faster on the stock tune and stock intake, vs the Steeda intake and canned 91 tune.
A few old forum posts suggest this is a “vent” hose… which is why Ford deemed it unnecessary in the 2018+ Intake. Anyone know for sure what this is?
