hooked up Forscan last night and found a bunch of stored codes for electrical gremlins.

Today I crawled under the car and Repaired at least 4 chafed wiring harnesses. In addition to the normal active exhaust chafe, the diff temp sensor had shredded wiring, the rear parking sensor harness had exposed copper wire where it was stripped too far, and what I believe is the fuel harness was stripped too far.

easy fix with some repinning and silicone but not reassuring for longevity

Can you post a list of thr codes please? I don’t have Forscan, but Iā€˜m curious to see what codes you found during your scan.

I cleared them already, but I remember one was for active exhaust and one was for the heated seats and a cruise control code. Surprisingly no diff temp sensor code because that wire was shredded.

No suspension codes. I think there was a brake or traction code but I can’t recall exactly what it was.

Bumping this because my AC went out and it turned out to be a chafed wire where they left the AC harness unwrapped going to the compressor and guess what, it was shredded. Anyone with a post Covid build car might want to check their harness near the AC compressor.

The wiring on this car is unbelievably bad.

Shredded? You don’t have mice do you? Do you have pics of the damaged wire?

I’ll grab some pics. I live in the woods so I have mice but It’s not teeth marks and I’m pretty familiar with chewed wiring from restoring my 68. Looks like the wire stripper bounced a few times, cutting through the sheath before finally grabbing and stripping the wire.
