Ok my only gripe - Pumping gas!

I love this car, but am I the only one who has to stand and hold the gas pump handle in my car the ENTIRE time! If I don't it either pops out before it's done or the vapor lock shuts it off before the tank is full. I know it's a total first world problem but just curious if others have noticed this?

I actually did have this problem. But not all the time. I thought it was the pump itself.

I have to hold it in for all my cars in the last 2 or so years. It's a California pump thing, they changed the nozzles for some emissions reason and they never work right when set to pump by themselves. Seems like a lot of cars are having the same issue since every time I stop for gas more than 3/4 of the people there are holding the nozzles in.

It's most definitely not the car.

I should say that when I had the issue (only happened once), I tried a couple of more times and it worked fine.

(Oregon passed a law a few years ago allowing motorcyclists to pump their own - finally! Unfortunately, that came almost two years after a dipshit pump jockey saturated my custom made Corbin seat with gasoline, and the station refused to even take a report)

Happened to me all the time on my 2007 Mustang. I also saw a 2005 Mustang that did the same thing. I'm in CA, if that matters.

I've nailed it down to this so it doesn't happen:

Do not remove the gas cap until the moment you are ready to insert the nozzle. So, pay for the gas, select a grade, then when you hear the pump ready to pump gas, then open the gas cap, quickly insert and lock it.

Occasionally. It's like I have to have it sit "just so" so I can go clean the windshield or whatever. Same thing happened with my Wrangler. I always go to Chevron, but their nozzle types sometimes slightly differ between stations.
One time recently I was frustrated with that very situation and jammed the nozzle too roughly and thought I would not get it back out in one piece. It was stuck pretty bad at the opening. :doh: Not cool.
