Thumbs up to posting this PSA. Information is critical to making a good decision.

One guys buy back car is another guys DIY project car. Not everyone is allergic to problem motors if you have the touch to get them right. Good to know if it had chronic problems before you buy.

Crushed is what my dealer told me. I of course did not watch it being crushed.

Everyone, including the dealer seemed surprised and they had never seen a buyback at full retail value after 11,000km

Anyway, off topic - if you want to play flirty we can do it over pm.

No flirtation whats so ever. Just trying to clarify that a buyback is not the death of a car. Take what the dealer told you with a grain of salt. I am sure an easy vin search of the old car will show it was probably auctioned off.

Fair. That's actually a good idea man.

Let me dig it up. I'll report back shortly.

I'll look it up shortly.

Just ask your dealership to provide you with an Oasis Report and that should tell you pretty much anything you need to know about your old car including whether it still exists.

;)

$52K is hardly a "deal" for a buy-back car. I bought a buy-back VW GLI several years back. Car had less than 2K miles and the timing chain broke and the engine was replaced. Brand new engine, full warranty, and the VW paperwork said that if there were any further warranty issues, I could request a refund. Drove the car for 2 years, with no issues and was happy with the trade value when I swapped it for a truck.

I don't know the details of the OP's experience with the car but I would not have an issue with a GT350 buy-back car.....if the deal was right.....however, $52K is no deal for a branded-title car.

$52k is what they're hoping to get from somebody that pays more attention to "GT350" than "buyback" on the title. And somebody probably will.

However, if they were willing to deal down to $40k or below, then the car becomes an attractive project.

The point is not to say the dealer did not disclose it - as they clearly did and carfax states it as well.
But I had unending issues with numerous parts of the car and unless “project” consisted of a partout/teardown I wouldn’t wish it on any member.

FWIW, your old car was always serviced at Glenoak, but your last warranty claim with them showed September of last year. Not sure when it was supposedly crushed but February 2017 another dealer replaced the oil cooler tubing. May have been you. Oasis lists a current owner but it could just still show your name on Fords end. I won’t put the personal info here in case it is yours.
