I plan to switch to the 2018+ digital gauges in my 2016. What is the best way to have proof I didn't mess with the mileage.

Probably not important when and if I sell it but some buyers might want that.

I'm more concerned about my extended warranty. I don't want Ford to say a blown engine isn't covered later because they can't be sure the warranty mileage hasn't been exceeded. The fact that my car does have extremely low mileage could make that a more attractive "excuse".

Hopefully there is some way that hasn't occurred to me. Like is there a way to have the old gauges display the mileage after removal and maybe put that in the same picture as the installed digital gauges along with the front page of the New York Times? LoL

If more ways than one, would prefer one that doesn't involve my local dealer and them putting a note in the file. Since I read about the Camaro owner who had to get a lawyer for a blown engine because the dealer noticed a catch can on the car, I'd just as soon not draw attention to any mods that can't possibly be related to some future problem.

The IPC in the cluster feeds the odo reading to the rest of the modules that store distance. I believe its only the pcm/ecu and one other from my digging in forscan.

Change the cluster odo, and once it's plugged in the other modules adopt the new reading. I did this back and forth several times to test with my orginal cluster at 8k miles and the used 2018 at 26k miles.

Forscan can increase the gauge cluster miles but not decrease. To decrease odo-pro.com is a viable option for 90 bucks.

Buy a new cluster or used one with lower miles or add the cost to send it out to your budget.

For the proof of not tampering, there is nothing illegal about replacing a cluster as long as the miles reflect what the car has. Take photos with the old dash and new when doing the swap and save them for a rainy day. I honestly can't see it being an issue. If you wanted to get 3rd party documentation, go get an oil change or state inspection afterwards and that will further document the date and miles after the swap.

You'd need to plug the cluster in to the car to get the odo reading to display.

Edit: bit more than was asked but thought how the odo was stored mattered.
