Hi everyone,
I've been having some serious problems with my order. Here's some info of what has happened thus far.
On March 4th, my dealership told me that the car is under build and it will be ready for the week of the 16th (march). I was excited from this call. I later had to call them (leaving them voicemails with no return calls) several times but finally showed up to the dealership to get the VIN information for insurance purposes. This surprised me, as this shouldn't be a bother to them. Once i got the VIN, i found my window sticker and found out the build date will be March 6th. On march 11th my dealer told me that the car has shipped out in person. Cotus had an eta of 3/18, but still showed up as awaiting shipment. On this ETA date, COTUS had removed the ETA and it still showed up as awaiting shipping. I went to the dealer to get more info, and they told me that the car is still awaiting shipment (earlier they said it shipped). Confused, I called Ford Customers Relationship Canada this Monday 3/23, and they told me the car is still under production (this was said by fordservice on this forum as well, I trust this).
The CS began an investigation to see what is going on, where the car is, and what the ETA is. I just got my call from customer service, and they told me that the car has been produced since the 19th (according to this, everyone including the CS I called 2 days ago was lying), and its build date had been pushed to 3/10 from 3/6. I asked them why such a long production, and why hasnt it been shipped out yet since its production, and the customer service had no answer. I asked them that I want a car that available in a nearby dealer that has the exact same specs as mine, and she said its up to the dealer.
I went to my dealer, and they told me they will not trade the car. I asked them why did they tell me the car shipped out at one point, and at another the car was awaiting shipment when the car was in production. They said that's just the info they received when they called "someone". What kind of dealer receives false information from the plant (or whoever) but the customer receives the right info? I then asked about canceling so i can buy the other one since they wont trade it, and they said I'll lose my $500 deposit and that for however long the car sits in their lot, they will SUE me for interest.
Harsh words, and I'm absolutely shocked at customer service. Is this how Ford handles a high paying customer? At the point he mentioned to sue, I'll be honest, I got pissed and just got up and left.
What I signed when I initially went to the dealership was a vehicle purchase agreement, that binds me into purchasing the vehicle. I didnt get a DORA or anything beyond that. At the back of it, in thin and faded out letters, it mentions a few things such as: distance traveled, trade ins, MSRPs, payment of additional and increased taxes, admin fees, ownership transfers, date of delivery, failure to accept delivery or to pay, explanation of damages, and dealing with trade-ins as deposits.
There's nothing about canceling. For failure to accept delivery or to pay, it says: if i fail to accept delivery of the vehicle within 7 days of you notifying me by registered mail that the vehicle is available for delivery, or if i fail to pay you the full amount due on delivery, you will be entitled, in addition to any other rights or remedies you may have, to cancel this agreement and to deduct the amount of your damages from my deposit.
Guys what should I do? This was just unbelievable...
