Hi all.
I need some help. Here's the situation. I ordered my Mustang Jan. 7, and she arrived at the dealership late today. I can pick her up Monday.
Here's where it gets complicated. When I ordered the car, I was an idiot. Basically walked in one night and believed everything the sales guy told me -- that I had to pay MSRP for an "in-demand" ordered car. So we ordered the car for around $48,800, with me agreeing to take $7K for my 2007 GT/CS convertible on trade.
When I got home, an hour on the Internet revealed the error of my ways. So I immediately joined MCA. I called my dealer the next day and told him I was eligible for X plan. His response was they'd have to "renegotiate" the price of my trade in if I did X plan. So I dropped it.
But it's been bugging me ever since. Anyway, today I was able to sell my current car for $8K, $1K more than dealer offered. Since the trade is off the table, in my mind, I should now be able to get X plan pricing.
My sales guy has not responded positively to this. He's told me they "don't make anything" on X plan, that he's going to get in trouble, that the manager may refuse to sell me the car at that price, etc.
On top of all this, the car came in today. EDD was showing 2/27. So this is all coming to a head Monday. What should I do? I wasn't trying to mislead them, but it was better for me to sell my car than trade it. And the dealership accepts X plan on mustangs -- including ordered ones. They've confirmed that. So can they deny it to me? Am in in the wrong for asking?
Thanks.
