X Plan is BEFORE rebates so its better than most of your deals to start with. X Plan is very near invoice, then you get rebates on top of that. And its a no haggle price. I got 1250 in rebates on top of x plan so ended up paying a lot below invoice.

this is Ford giving this money to the dealer[/B]...once they verify that you qualify for any one or two particular incentives.

Don't let the dealer "play fast and loose" with that money...making you think that "look what a great deal WE are giving you!"

Actually...that is pretty unethical. IF you have another dealer to go to close to you...I would. I've done this more times than I truly want to admit to....
LOL.....and many yrs ago...when jobs were tough...I sold cars for a short time...Toyotas and Nissan's. My best friend in California has been a dealer and broker for over 30 yrs. I helped him a lot. I know the car game.

With places like True Car on the web....and doing your homework...dealers can't "hide" the invoice prices any more. The consumer has a much better "edge" than a few yrs. back. Plus...I ask to see the Invoice...always get to review it. If a Gen. Sales Mgr. or GM refuses to show you....I'd walk out.

I never talk with a salesman. If it's my first time in a dealership and I don't know anyone...I ask to speak to the General Sales Mgr. NOT a Sales Mgr....they assign that title to more than one person. THEIR boss is the GSM.

You can get that person's name off of their web page. Most dealers now show pics/names of the people working at the dealership.

I moved beyond that. I now deal with the General Manager...THE person that runs the dealership. True, not many deal directly with a "customer"...but, I've found in recent years more do now than not. I have 5 GM's within a 100 miles of me that I am friends with. Most know each other too! I've purchased from them all. So, now I just make a phone call or email...and within a very short time I have a selling price.

And...I can beat True Car pricing. Just did on my '15 GT.

So, since I got $2,801 off the MSRP. The incentive money is on top of that.
So, they are still making money giving me $2,801 off. NOT all dealers will do that...but, you have to negotiate with the right person...as I explained above. Ford is giving them..."kickback" money on all sales...so, it's a "minimal deal" for them....but, moving cars is important too. They kid me about making minimum money off me...I just tell them...hey, I'm sure you'll make up for it on someone not as savvy as me!....

Hope I've helped. If you need more...PM me. I'll answer questions if you have them.
Very helpful. Thanks.

For Premium Convertibles, at the beginning of December, the MSRP vs Invoice prices had a large separation. At the end of December, the Invoice had jumped $1,200, but the MSRP had actually dropped by $200. So the price spread had decreased by 1,400! I guess Ford was still trying to figure how to charge the most money determined by Fall sales numbers.

X-Plan buyers pay the price of the car when it was ordered. I picked my car up last night and the X-Plan form has a statement to that effect. The dealership had to knock the $200 increase off the cost of the car.

Since I started looking, only about a week, the price on the invoice for the car that I'm looking for has gone up about $500.

Stop getting mustangs!!! Drive that price down.

Good deals are going to get rough I think.:frusty:
VERY Interesting. Your invoice went up by $500, and the rebate is $500. Sounds a little "shady" huh?

I haven't actually secured a deal yet, just noticing invoices on the internet.

So we all agree there has been no price increase since the late December jump on some models ($200 on GT Premium)? Why are we scaring people with 3rd party crap?

I've known the MSRP has gone up on my car by $200 for some time now. That's why the $500 raise in invoice price doesn't make sense. Invoice's don't go up 500 and they raise MSRP only 200. So, I doubt that $500 figure.

And, yes, these Incentive Moneys...this is Ford giving this money to the dealer...once they verify that you qualify for any one or two particular incentives.

Don't let the dealer "play fast and loose" with that money...making you think that "look what a great deal WE are giving you!"

Hey ColoradoGT,

I ordered my car yesterday at the dealership, but I am not quite happy about that. They told me I CANNOT combine the special interest rate (2.9%) with college rebate and switch cash offer, so I need to either pay a higher interest rate with those incentives or take the 2.9% without any rebates. Is it true that I can't combine them? If not, what can I do now? I already signed the purchase order and paid deposit.

Thanks for your help:)

No problem..always willing to help IF I can. Well, it seems you signed before you knew ALL the facts about the deal. The combining does have limits and only the dealer knows...sometimes you can find it on the Ford web sight..it will say..."cannot be combined with other offers....etc, something like that.

I was going to use X-plan and hopefully my $500 military discount...but, Ford said NO. My GM told me....no worries...he will beat X-plan AND then I can use whatever discounts/rebates are being offered.
My GM is just a great guy.

But, always go in with your eyes wide open...and question everything before signing. Not that is going to help now.

Just sit down and find out what will work toward your purchase and what is not allowed. Go with what you can do and decide how you will proceed. Getting out of the deal is most likely not going to happen.
Thanks for your reply. Also, the dealer doesn't give me any number except a copy of signed purchase agreement. Is that normal? And what usually happen next?
