So, I was driving to Anaheim last night and some idiot was merging onto the I-5. He came in at high speed directly into my path and I just caught him in my peripheral vision as he was about to sideswipe me. I reacted instinctively, braking and pulling to my left. Fortunately, we were in a section where it was my lane and the merge lane, so there was no chance of traffic to my left. I was going 65, he was going at least 90 as my best guess.

The stock Mustang GT might not be lauded for its brakes and handling, but man, that car responded better than any I've owned. I managed to avoid what would have been a potentially ugly accident thanks to the car's responsiveness. My wife was in the passenger seat, and so I figure the car's already paid for itself and then some.

Sounds like you had great reactions too.
Maybe so, pure reflexes after 40 years of driving. Even so, thank god I was in a car that responded so well. I do love my wife and she was right in the crosshairs .

The stock base GTs do virtually everything a lot more competently than they are given credit for by many on these pages. A guy could easily get an inferiority complex thinking his non specialty optioned GT was lacking. Truth is, for street driving, even hard street driving, I question that very many could use the full potential of their packaged and optioned GTs to a meaningful advantage over a base car.
