I HIGHLY doubt that the GT will hit sixty in less than four seconds.
I'm using the 2012 Boss 302 as a marker. Motor Trend was able to get the Boss 302 to 60 in 4 seconds flat. Considering the fact that the next Mustang GT will be 360lbs. lighter and will most likely be putting out even more hp than the Boss... I think under 4 seconds to 60 for the next-gen Mustang GT is very plausible.

The ILIRS in the M5 helps that 4300lb behemoth run 0-60 in 3.7sec. So i dont see the rear being a hinderence during a 0-60 sprint. Although that Bimmer time is from a T4.4L V8 making 560/502.

Where'd you get that number?

Have you guys ever seen how they achieve those 0 to 60 times in Car and Driver or Motortrend? You really want to thrash your car like that? Not me.

It's always fun to talk about 0 to 60 times and 1/4 miles times but I like to keep a certain degree of reality in the mix too. To achieve those times they generally have to abuse the crap out of the car. Secondly, those times are achieved on a track with ideal weather conditions and using a car that is in optimal condition. In the real world your Mustang is going to be driven in bad weather, along bumpy streets, on tires with varying degrees of grip depending on temperature and surface conditions. What I'm trying to say is that the magazine times are optimal best times. You can expect that your car will not achieve those times on average.

It's all about going around a corner quickly anyway.

Yes, and yes. The only easy day my fox ever saw with me behind the wheel was the day I took it for a test drive, and drove it home -- 16 years ago. Granted, I am a bit more "grown up" now.

Some people by a performance car just for that purpose.

Oh don't get me wrong. I'm all for putting the pedal down here and there too. That's kind of the whole point of this car isn't it? I'm just not going to start dumping clutches at 2500 rpm or reving the motor and dropping it into D just to shave a half second off my accleration time. Just putting my foot down and running it out is plenty of fun for me.

Totally agree. I'm looking forward to seeing how this new car does with the IRS. I know a lot of people complain about the live axle setup on the current car but I've owned two of them and found those complaints to be largely exagerated or undue. The car handles very well.

Dropping the clutch at 2500 rpm isnt going to hurt anything. Ive had my 3000 stall in my auto 2012 ram hemi for way over a year racing it alot with no hiccups.. now dropping at 4000 well yah thays when things will start tearing up.

My ram racing a tuned 2013 mustang 5.0 he obviously beat me but I kept up. In a 4700+ pound truck. This race made me realize that its time to get something that was truly made to do tgis sort of stuff.
