No on the Recaros. Sticker was just over $50k on it. Def running a CarFax. Im an out of state buyer so that makes it a bit more complicated.
You may also want to review your states policy for registering an out-of-state vehicle . California has pretty strict limits and would require a smog even on a brand new vehicle purchased and brought in from out of state . Iā€™m guessing that the vehicle is 100% stock no modifications whatsoever ? One thing to look for is if the previous owner flashed a performance tune and then flashed it back to stock if you have some kind of a serious warranty issue a dealer can tell if it was flashed and deny you a warranty .

One thing I would add is to check the rear quarter door jambs/window trim lines/trunk gutters/inside door seams for any tape/masking lines from body work.
This is something I always do and tell others to do when looking at a used car because Carfax is obviously not a be-all end-all, and only collisions and repair work reported to insurance/gone through insurance will be there.
Sometimes people will pay out of pocket for cosmetic body repair, and this will never show on the reports.
However, if you really take a fine-tooth comb approach, you will see if a car was repaired, despite what a Carfax shows. I've been able to prove this a handful of times to some friends when I went to check some cars with them.

Great thread! Figured I would ask this here since you all are the PP2 experts. :)

Been looking for lightly used 19. Found one; Shadow Black, 401a, PP2, Active Exhaust, B&O system with 6,000 miles. Private sale and ask is $36k. This seems like a very fair asking and potentially great deal if the car checks out. Leftover 19s but 400 package are around $40k plus tax.

Any thoughts?

36K is a good price as long as car shows no sign of crash or major repair.of course 34 or 35 would better:)

Seriously though , good luck on purchase if you Get it .

I would also consider a new 301A. For me The 12 inch instrument cluster was crucial when I was looking but I seeing a lot of guys 15 -17 MY upgrading to that dash and even using the Bullitt software to make it more special.

I chose 401 a with active and b and o. I could have probably saved some $$$ if I went 301a with no active. I did not want Recaros but I wanted heated /cooled seats.

since I picked up mine I changed exhaust to Borla cat back and wish the exhaust stayed in sport plus mode all the time.

also could have easily changed the cloth seats to leather katzkin which I will do anyway this summer.

whatever you decide ,check back here for great conversation and advice when you get on the road.

Just hit 950 miles today on my 19 , installed an Air Raid cold air intake took about 2 hours. This was my third Air-raid.. my 2015 PP1 had one and my 17 F-150 still has one ( donā€™t ask why....and itā€™s an ecoboost)

ā€˜Got this one from CJ pony parts Presidentsā€™ Day special.save about $70.00 using coupon and reward points..took them 2 weeks to get it to me though.

Very pleased with quality of kit and everything was included. I used a video from American Muscle from YouTube but it was a little misleading on the sound tube removal.

Lol..the butt -dyno says I gained 1/2 second in the quarter mile.. Seriously though no tune planned but I am working on a power adder (supercharger) and headers next.

Another member here recommended Akins Ford in GA for the install. I am working on the logistics for Maytime frame.

Do the PP2ā€™s have a specific letter within the VIN that designates it as a true PP2?

the digital cluster is a must have on my list from day one. being in AZ i like the look and idea of the 301a cloth seats, but not enough to skip the cluster. much thanks.

That's a good question. From a cursory investigation, no, but the information could be somewhere in digits 4-8.

If you're looking for a quick way to verify if a car was PP2 from the factory, check the door jamb sticker. It'll show the 305 tire size, which was only available with PP2.

I could not find it either. I think it is not defined as a unique car.
In all, a PP2 is just a package for a Mustang GT.

Is there any way to determine any other package via the VIN? No.

Can you see if it was a Premium GT or has a Premium sound system? No

I think only ford retains the build information as it is tied to VIN.
