I think the PP is a nice option and worth the money for the content! I think the Ford racing trac pac is an even better option if your looking for a car that handles! Couple that with the cost of a good set of tires and it'll cost about the same as a PP. The standard brakes are the old S197 trac pack brakes. They do a fine job.

A telling stat:
Skidpad PP = .95g
Skidpad Non PP = .83

Not to mention, the PP does stop faster, whether that's due to tires, brakes, or whatever.
The biggest reason for that .83 are the stock all seasons.

Seams like a lot of people struggle with the importance of tires in general!

The upgraded front springs, K-Brace, strut tower brace, and upgraded rear sway bar have something to do with it as well. The PP is more than just tires and brakes.

Agreed. Yes, the cost sucks, but it contributes to performance so much.
My car's handling improved dramatically after getting rid of the stock rubber.

You're not getting it. It's the TIRES, not the brakes. And possibly the difference between the 14 and 15?
14 and 15 had same tires, the 14s were 255s not 275s in the rear tho

Of course, I drove both, many times.

You're not getting what I am saying, which is the Brembos won't stop you faster on the street than the regular brakes with equal tires. That is completely different than how hard you have to press the pedal.

Go take some more test drives (same tires but different brakes) and slam the brake pedal to the floor with both and you will stop in the same distance (within repeatability differences) with either one. Might be hard to find a non-Brembo with the same tires though.

And if you don't believe that ABS braking is the fastest way to stop on the random surface conditions of public roads, feel free to pull the ABS fuse and find out just how much farther it will take you to stop that way on your first try (you don't get do-overs for real-life red light runners).

I was responding just to a comment by someone who said a reason to get the Brembos was so you could stop shorter because of the Brembos. That's not true.

I would never choose the regular brakes over the Brembos, but not because the Brembos will do a better job keeping me from running into something on the street.
I totally agree on the ABS lol.....it was a genuine question from my personal very "primitive" experiences of driving the cars back to back. I am a finance guy, not an engineer by any stretch of the imagination so I'll take your word for it.

This is the single largest reason I didn't get the PP. I DD this car and winter wheels and tires to fit over the Brembos are very expensive in comparison. I got my Blizzak WS-80s for about $500.

There's a decent amount of cost of ownership increase of the PP over the base:
$2500 up front
~$500 more every couple years for winter tires
~$700 for decent winter wheels that fit the Brembos
Plus some hard to determine amount more in fuel annually because of the 3.73's

I still have regrets though. The totally logical, rational part of me is happy with my choice, but every other part is kicking myself for not doing it.
Fuel isn't as bad as you think commuting with the 3.73s! I daily mine too and was lucky I had leftover Boss Laguna Seca wheels from my 14 GT that I used as winter tires. I do wish they were 18" tho....19" tires are a pita when it comes to buying tires

As I said, I can't see myself driving a non-PP Mustang. The difference is huge.

But I can understand someone skipping it if:

1. The initial and ongoing costs meant a 100% ramen diet.
2. You would be replacing all or most of it for various reasons.
3. You want a plusher ride at the expense of performance.
4. You live in a cold climate and your religion forbids multiple sets of tires.

I'll agree except for #2. The performance pack radiator, Torsen, and Brembos are worth the price of admission. You could easily sell the wheels and tires for $800-1,100 too if you plan on getting new wheels and tires. Or be like me, who tells their wife they are getting new wheels and tires and will sell the OEM set. And then be like me again who tells their wife they will sell their OEM set and 1st aftermarket set when they buy their next set.

Oh, hope, you're there!

Can't wait to replace these crappy, round excuses for tires next spring. I'm working hard to ensure they're toast by November.

For me the EB/PP/Auto was the only option. It is the best handling mustang and the German ZF designed auto trans is far better than the made in China manual clunker on the GT/PP. The lighter front end with GT brakes rocks.

Yeah we all know this but the shitty all season tires are biggest reason for the 83 skidpad.Tires are a huge factor when it comes to skidpad.

Worth? Totally

But if you're going to tune it / rip its guts out... maybe not so much.

Otherwise, worth it.

I'm not buying it.

Tried that with my wife's SUV and the handling was horrible:
