I don't even bother with the car's mileage calculator because I read everyone's input on how optimistic its numbers are: I do actual miles travelled divided by gallons used (15-16 mpg in everyday suburban driving).

FYI, my car computer's tire pressure monitor reads 2 psi higher than a quality hand-held air gauge too, meaning you may be running soft tires if you follow yours - not good for tread wear or safe high-speed runs). My dashboard air gauge read 35 psi front/36 psi rear from the factory last Thanksgiving (actual 33 front, 34 rear), not discovered until I put my dedicated snow tires & wheels on and checked actual PSI with an air gauge.

Easy fix.

Wow - that's really good compared to my 6 speed stick. And your auto's a couple tenths quicker at the strip too, from everything I'm reading. Maybe next time I'll go there… it'd sure make my wife and kids happy, since none of them drive stick.

Or is that a reason to not get an automatic?

Just finished a 450 mile weekend trip all in track mode. A mix of 80 mph highway and spirited backroads driving. Avg 21.9mpg. GT, auto, 3.55, 20s. I'll take it.

For some reason, my EB mileage has started to increase again. New out of the dealership: 32 mpg AVG; 400 miles: 28 mpg AVG; at 700 miles: 34.3 mpg AVG. Same driving conditions: 60 mile round trip; rural highway (55-60 mph) with steady traffic and multiple small hills.

Lifetime average is 18.2mpg. It's dropped a little bit since summer kicked in.

Did a 100 mile drive 2 weeks ago and hit 29.1 going with the flow of traffic (between 50 and 70 using cruise control)

V8 automatic premium

I'm driving from Maryland to Indiana at the end of the month -- I'll post updates -- it should significantly boost my average -- but then again, with all those country roads, and then flat parts in the upper 3/4 of the state, I might get carried away ;). I put cruise on at 59 in 55's, and 65 in 65's when possible -- I keep my ego out of it and let everyone pass until I get boxed in and can't keep my cruise. At that point, I drop a gear or two, mash the pedal, shoot up to X and pass everyone. If you have the discipline to stay in cruise and let people pass, the highway mileage is pretty awesome -- even with the GT PP.

Depending on the temperature, staying under 60 is key, as it's a tipping point for optimal mileage -- parasitic drag builds exponentially above that. This applies to a 59 degree "standard" temperature -- higher temps move the tipping point up, but not by a whole lot.
Currently sitting at 19.7 after a trip to Annapolis and back.

Have a GT PP manual with 3.73 gear and only 700 miles on it. Do basically 100% city driving and get 15.8.

That's awesome for so few miles on, and in town! Around town is when I blow my mileage -- on the highway I see really good mileage keeping it in cruise in the right lane.

My car is a GT Premium with a six speed manual, 18" wheels and 3.31:1 gears.
My combined average for the first 4,000 miles was 22 mpg.
I took a trip from Green Bay to Mackinac Island with two bikes on my hitch rack and got 26 mpg combined mpg for the total trip.
When I measure straight highway miles with no bike rack, I get 28 to 31 mpg.
I use only real gasoline with no ethanol.
