Compound is more important than size. Competitive tires don’t leave the user with many appropriate size choices.

For comparison, 275 40 is so so so so easy to mount I know wish they came in 285 35 as you suggest.

It’s VERY hard to mount a 285 35 re71r on a 9 inch wide wheel and get it to hold air. I saw a whole circus of professionals and amateurs fail. Other brands might be more forgiving but I haven’t tried.
RE71Rs are tough on the tire guys.

The 305/30R19s were actually harder to seat on the 11" wheel and get it to hold air. The trick was shaving the little casting nubbins off the bead area with a razor blade. I do that now before I drop off the tires for mounting after waiting an hour plus for one set.

I dropped off a set of 285/35 RE71R at the local tire place for mounting on my stock 9/9.5 staggered PP1 wheels and they were like 'ok see you in 20 minutes'. I just laughed and came back 45 minutes later and they were still struggling, having worked on it the entire time I was gone.

Definitely getting my money's worth from the tire guys. They're easier to dismount/mount when they're worn down, but the new tires are pretty stiff.

@NightmareMoon i did mean 285 30 R18 Re71R (Yep, I modified the offset of some wheels on a Bridgeport)

If you cook them in an oven at 80C for 15 minutes, they get softer and easier to play with.

What are Mustang appropriate sizes ? Only one they had for F Street was 275/35R19 and it was introduced last year if I recall correctly - and it came with together with 305/30R19.
Talking about Rival S 1.5 - previous version of it never had Mustang sizes.

Sizes that are reasonably close to stock diameter, and wide enough to be useful.

They were making a 285/35-19 at one point.
It would be nice if someone would make a good 295/35 & 305/35.
Yes 305/30 works but it's a bit short. 295/30 is too short.

Wasn't that original Rival (without S) ? Last five years I don't remember usable BFG in a stock F-Streetish size for 19" wheels.

305/30 works pretty well on 18+ cars (~72mph max in second, could probably go shorter although bunch of times this year I was on limiter) - at this point they were being made for just as many years as 15-17...
