Overnight Health Care: CDC director says vaccinated people are 'safe' and do not need to wear masks | Federal judge temporarily blocks Indiana abortion 'reversal' law | Fauci warns of 'two Americas' due to widening vaccination gap (msn.com)

“How worried should you be about the delta variant? CDC director said vaccinated people are 'safe' and do not need to wear masks.”

“Reassuring words from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky, who said Wednesday that fully vaccinated people are "safe" from the current variants and do not need to wear masks, doubling down on CDC guidance as some others call for a return to mask wearing.”

Hello; (my comments) This is good news for two reasons. One is I am protected from the “delta” strain and I do not have to wear a mask. I had no way to know for sure the vaccine would protect against the delta strain, but such is what I have been hearing the last few. The no mask needed matches my take so is good to hear. I did not plan to be fear mongered into wearing one.

If you read the link you will find that the WHO has a different take on the masks. Surprise, surprise, surprise as Gomer Pyle might say.

On a side note- I keep seeing that the immunity from vaccines is continuing and staying strong. No link today, but I probably can find one.
"Fear mongered" There is that bias again. Another MSN opinion piece too... Sigh.

I had a like-minded asshole at the auto parts store yesterday give me grief for wearing a mask. Called me an idiot (which I know will enjoy hearing) and made fun of my beater minivan.

Wearing a mask is a trivial thing. We still don't know a great deal about COVID-19, but we do know it is a rapidly changing and adapting virus - it is figuring us out.

Gomer Pyle indeed...

I suggest you stick to the Mustang sub forums and stay away from the "off topic" sub forum.
This is what I wear when I Leave my Bedroom Closet. A little uncomfortable around the house, but other than that it seems to do the trick. LOL

With Covid what is science today could be debunked tomorrow. I sit back and watch as the experts discuss this 1 year old lab creation thinking they know everything. Sars2 is the perfect combination of capitalism, medicine, and politics. The narrative is the puzzle piece that fits all three. Funding will always flow to the narrative. Always remember that with your flavor of 'science'.

The truth is we are performing the largest little lab experiment in history with almost no understanding of what is going to happen.

Bonus question. If we found hard evidence tomorrow the vaccines had a high probablity of producing a 'super bug' would we stop giving them out?
And the Earth is flat, ammirite?

You misunderstand so many things here but science is not debunked. Yes people learn a little more every day but the crucial thing is that scientists understand there are things they don't know but work towards understanding. There is not a single scientist who has claimed to know everything about COVID. It should also be pointed out that COVID is not actually that unusual, there are plenty of similar viruses out there, but their discrete characteristics have meant that they have not been such a successful pathogen.

I'm not really sure I understand the last paragraph about vaccines 'producing' a superbug other than I think it demonstrates a few holes in your understanding of vaccines. Vaccine escape is a well recognised problem, with well understood reasons for it. It doesn't create a superbug, just takes you back to where you were pre-vaccine. This is the reason a variant vaccine is being worked on here and elsewhere to allow a booster vaccination later this year and into next year.

As a beautiful demonstration of how vaccination can break the link between cases and deaths the UK data below is fantastic. Cases are soaring of the 'delta' variant in the UK but hospitalisations are only going up slowly and deaths hardly increasing at all. Most hospital admissions are younger unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people and in them the disease is generally less severe as well.

Incidentally to those arguing before about lockdown and whether it worked - the periods of decline in cases all tie up with the UK in lockdown, the increases when restrictions were lifted. The only difference this time is as lockdown restrictions have been lifted, and cases increase, the vaccine has broken the connection with hospital admissions and deaths.

So although it may hurt your ego, there are plenty of things you don't have the informed ability to express an opinion, and probably never will. In these circumstances you rely on those that do understand the subject, or in your case you don't.
That's not a socialist idea at all really, quite the opposite.
This notion that grew out of the current "environment" - that there's no value in (and in fact, hostility towards) subject matter expertise - that the opinion of people without degrees/formal vocation [in the topic] should be given the same credibility ...

It's absurd.

It's a bunch C&P-ing content they don't understand, it's internet Dunning-Kruger, it's this:

Hello; Two things. First regardless of the article source it should be the person making the statement that matters. The CDC director in this case.

I also reported CJJon for name calling. I did ask the mods to not close the thread for us who can be civil.

Name calling? What I said was I met a like minded asshole at the auto parts store. It was really the auto parts store guy I was calling an asshole.

You call me one of "The Twins" in a derogatory way - that's name calling too, no? You even do it in threads I am not part of...you keep injecting us in your narrative, not the other way 'round.

Let the mods decide...

Again, I called the part store guy an asshole, not you. You direct the insult "The Twins" directly at me.

Interesting you talk about conspiracy theories but you preached to non lab leak theory conspiracy theory for a year. Ever stop any wonder what else you are wrong about?
Wut? I don't think I ever mentioned lab leak theory of any sort, certainly I have not done any preaching in that regard.

Maybe you have me confused with someone else?

I thought this forum prohibited Politic driven agenda, extreme bias media content. Is the Flu like C19 virus real yes. Was it created in a Chinese Lab, people with more than two brain cells say yes. Should this political driven topic be deleted for good, IMHO, Absolutely. Let's move on.

Hello; Nice try but I can see thru it. I figure others can as well. If my associating you with Burkey is an insult to you such is news to me, but I will concede since it is your feelings and your call. I think of you two as the twins because you argue with me in similar ways often at the same time. I will take my lumps if the mods find me at fault.

I did ask you more than once to stop the name calling. I gave you some chances to stop before doing a report. I even reminded you recently.
