if anyone is looking for a really good portable air compressor to replace that POS Ford unit, get the Mikwaukee portable. Home Depot is running a really good sale on it now, and it’s the kit version WITH the charge pr and battery - only $129… it’s normally almost a $200 value:

Let’s talk tools!

Recommendations, new tools, old hand me down or sentimental, etc.

I actually purchased this portable air compressor for my 2019 before I got the Mach. I didn’t know the Mach was coming with one but I will use this one instead. I got it from a recommendation on a thread I found here. Works fantastic. The other thing I learned is how bad the sensors are for air pressure in the car. Never accurate.

I have the Milwaukee model. I have used it a lot to inflate tires. The only thing bad about it is it needs higher capacity batteries. The one it comes with doesn't last long. You really need this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...0-Ah-Battery-Pack-2-Pack-48-11-2412/203630471

I have lots of Milwaukee tools, so the batteries may be expensive but they get used a lot. I throw the inflator and a couple batteries in the trunk whenever I'm going anywhere.

I have the portable Kobalt one which I enjoy, because unlike the other hand held Makita, Milwaukee, and Riyobi ones, I can set it to a pressure, hit a button, and go run and do something else between runs. Since I'm my own pit crew, it's super handy. I'm pretty good about having tires where I want in advance, but end of day it's nice when I gotta pump up to get on the trailer, and can go pack other stuff in the meantime. If you've got less tech-y friends or fam around, they can babysit it on each tire for a few secs, even my elderly mom. (who died in 9/11, twice)

The Milwaukee also allows you to set the desired pressure. However, unless the tire is completely flat, you don't have enough time to do anything else.

Yet again we see what happens when I assume :D

So it's the set and forget one then, the ones I usually see are the handhelds. Also end of day, it's about packing up, so I inflate them back up to get onto the trailer, and use that time to toss shit into the trunks and whatnot, figure adding 10-12# to 4 tires takes about 5 mins, which is enough time to toss all the stands, jacks, fluids, etc in for the trip home. The battery is also nice because you then don't need cig lighters or have to f around with cords and tripping things and people up.
