Ok, now that cars are getting into owners hands lets dig into this a bit. For those of you that will buy new wheels, which size and fitment would you choose? We are curious to see what new S550 owners would lean towards most.

  1. 18x10 square (all 4 corners). The track day option that will CLEAR GT PP 6POT 380mm OEM Brembo!
  2. 19x9.5 front, 19x10.5 rear
  3. 19x9.5 square (all 4 corners)
  4. 20x10 front, 20x11 rear. 1LE WHAT?
  5. 20x10 square (all 4 corners)

Interesting results so far. I had thought it would be a little more balanced between 20 and 19 with the new platform. Keep it coming and thank you!:clap2:

Did you see my posts and pictures about wheel clearance? Yes I am disappointed there isn't more room from the factory. I still think 11.5" is possible if tight fit with 19" wheels on the rear. There is almost no room between the PP front tire and the shock, 1/4" is about all you can do on the inside maybe an inch on the outside that would make the rim 10.25". I do think the 19" fill the wheel well better on this car than they did on the S197. And It seems from what little tire shopping I did that there are lots of new tire size in 19" where three years ago there were way more 20"s but they were mostly too small being intended for the import market. I would guess that with more manufacturers going to 19"s they are offering more sizes. I'd stay with 19" if I can fine the right tire sizes I went to 20" on the S197 and was super pleased with the size and fit of those tires.

So how about 19" x 10" and 19" x 11"?

I really like the idea of a wide 18" option that would mount something like a 275/45 or 285/45 (whichever one make the height come out right) tire on all four corners. The car needs a square setup to fight understeer, and I really like the higher sidewall, greater rim protection and lighter weight of the 18" rim. Same theory Chevy used on the Z28.

I'd prefer 18's as well, but still staggered only to get the widest tires in front and back. I'd hope 11's would fit in the rear with 305's or 315's. If front and read happen to fit 305's on all four, even better.

if you guys have already done fitment would you happen to know what TPMS sensors the car has, if they are the same as the S197 or different?

I am pretty sure AmericanMuscle discovered they are different when they were trying to ship Zombie a new set of wheels.

Car doesn't need a square setup. Option #2 sounds great.

I agree here, whatever you do make the rear 11" front 9.5 or 10
I want to run 305 or 315 out back on this car.
I voted for staggered fitment.

18's are fine for track tires, I would honestly rather have a 19X10 square set up with 285-295's for street use, much better selection for keeping similar revs.

We were at the SEMA measuring session in which you are not able to take the tire off the wheel, so we do not know for sure. But as someone else stated, it seems American Muscle does know the answer to this.

This was the big dilemma for us. Since the Mustang has moved to a taller tire for the S550, the correct size for an 11" rear would be 305/35 19 or 315/35 19. Do a search for that size. Tire Rack has nothing. I believe Hoosier is the only one with their R6. A couple tire companies should have offerings towards the end of 2015 though. So the thought was that most will not want to stretch a 285 or 295 on the 11", hence the reasoning for 10.5. We may put the 10/11 combo back on the board though, as this has me thinking again.

18's are fine for track tires, I would honestly rather have a 19X10 square set up with 285-295's for street use, much better selection for keeping similar revs.
Yes for a square set up this was one of the reasons I really wanted to have the 19x10, but as I stated above for the staggered offering in 19", the 11" rear has issues for current tire selections.

I'm leaning towards a 19x10 square setup as well, matched with either 285/35 or 295/35 Mich Super Sport tires.

A 19x10/ 19x10.5 or even an 11 in the rear would be awesome. 18x11 square would be pretty sweet too:)

Issue with 18x10 is your going towards a certain market and that's those who typically track their cars.

The interesting thing I noticed on the 15 I looked at yesterday was that the rear fender lip is now rolled tight which is great for clearance. I never saw anyone mention that before. :ford: the front is definitely the limiting factor until I install some Cortex offset coilovers and or remove my fender liners :)

@flow-form what was the biggest size you were able to fit with the stock suspension up front?
