My original plan for my Race Red Mustang GT was to go for a red and black theme, with a black roof (wrapped).

I initially thought stripes would be a little too brash for my own taste. However, after some playing around with the vinyl editor in Forza on the Xbox to get these fab photo-realistic mockups, I now can't make my mind up!

I still think the black roof is a clean look, but the stripes give it a little extra character. Some of the additional stripe variants also give it a bit of a unique touch too.

Obviously the decision is all mine at the end of the day, but I'd be interested to hear some other opinions.

I like the black roof for sure. I towards option 5, because it keeps some continuity with the stripes but doesn't make the roof too busy.

I voted for 2 and 5, I like the clean look of just the black roof but with the stripes and the red going through it, it looks pretty neat and haven't seen that before. Full stripes on the black roof looks off here to me. I think it was wireeater that put his stripes on top of black roof and it worked on his car.

I don't care for black roofs but I do like stripes. Here are mine.

My tastes are just the stripe (with or without the pinstripe, but no black roof.

Looks great! Were those custom made or ready-made products? The proportions look spot on

I'd do plain or black roof. Stripes work on a Shelby but not a GT imo.

That's a rather silly statement seeing as 90% of the car is exactly the same.

Front bumper, hood, and rear valence are different. Those are just the surfaces that the stripes touch. And that's ignoring the historical association. Care with that quick math, you might look silly.

My vote would be for #3. Very nice renders by the way!

My biggest concern regarding either stripes or a black roof is poor water quality causing spots on the vinyl... I'm not sure how well they hold up to water spots. If anyone cares to comment, I'd appreciate it... sorry for the thread-jack!

I’m actually very interested in this too, as well as general maintenance and upkeep. A quick search suggests stripes can be waxed with the car as normal, but I wonder if vinyl is more prone to swirling and whether there’s noticeably more of an ‘orange peel’ effect in reflections.

They were ready-made. The black stripes are 9.5" wide and the pin stripes are 1/2" for a total of 10" per section. I used 1.5" wide masking tape to set the gap between the sections. The material is 3M gloss black.

Option 3 but thin down the white highlight, it’s too wide
