Pin stripe removal help

I started to remove the cheap ford factory pin stripes on my car and noticed that they leave a sticky goo substance behind that gets dirty really fast. My first instinct was to slap some goo be gone on there but i wanted to consult the experts to find out if that could be harmful to my paint. Anyone know any methods to safely remove this crud without harming my paint?
