Hey all!
What J2534 tools can you confirm will successfully flash a Roush off the shelf tune to the S550 using the free RDT software? I don't care if the tool will run the Ford IDS software.

I've seen these talked about, but none confirmed:

VCM II Diagnostic Tool
https://www.obd16shop.com/wholesale/ford-vcm-ii-diagnostic-tool-ids.html

VCM II V108 Diagnostic Tool:
https://www.obd16shop.com/wholesale/ford-vcmii-diagnostic-tool.html

STIC SVCI J2534 Diagnostic Tool: https://www.obd16shop.com/wholesale/j2534-diagnostic-tool-for-ford-mazda.html

I'll be installing the Roush TVS Supercharger Phase 2 kit later this year.
Thanks!!

Don’t have a answer but hope you get it figured out. The dealers around me can’t give me a straight answer on flashing mine to the newest cal. The only one that says they can are 2hrs away and say they will charge me for it. So I’m kinda stuck for now.

Perfect thanks Grimreaper!

No software issues so far. I don't have the device yet, but the patch app is searching for it or a license as expected. Mind if I pick your brain while the process is still fresh??

Did the VCX Nano allow you to backup the factory stock tune and the Roush tune?
Do I have all of the required software to flash shown below?

Thanks again!

I'll also share my findings for other's who are curious:

I followed the download instructions on vxdiagshop.com.

I downloaded the IDS software for VXDIAG using VirtualBox and a shared folder. Worked great. Ford IDS V124 (3 files); Ford_Mazda IDS Patch (1 file)

Just for kicks, I also tried to download without using the virtual machine. Had success on the PC using my phone's hotpot network (company network blocked it).
Only pushback from antivirus occurred for the IDS_Patch.exe. Luckily it allowed me to Run Anyway.

you might be able to save a copy of the ecu tune in some format from their IDS but the roush rdt does not. it only writes over what ever is there.

worst case ford ids can write the as built data to the ecu if you needed but youd loose the roush tune.

hptuners can download and save both tunes though. stock/roush. can tune the roush tune if you desire as well.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the SCT BDX Programmer to store the tunes unless I find a cheaper option.

**EDIT** the SCT BDX Programmer will not recognized or store the Roush tune.

this one..
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EFWPAN0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you have to either run a virtual machine with usb ports functioning or disable your antivirus as the driver download thinks its a trojan. works perfectly though. performed this exact operation few weeks back using roushes RDT

download the driver for the passthrough j2534 only using their vxdiag manager
Thanks again! Now that I have the VXDIAG VCX Nano your post makes complete sense.
Whoops.. I downloaded the VCI Manager instead of the VX Manager.

I’ll clean up my confusion in post #4 for other's who are curious:
Helpful links:
**VX Manager driver**: http://www.vxdiag.net/?lang=en
Ford IDS install: https://www.vxdiagshop.com/info/vxdiag-diagnostic-software-download-4048.html
How to RDT install and flash: https://www.roushcleantech.com/pcm-programming-with-rdt/

I found the instructions that came with the VXDIAG VCX Nano to be easiest to follow:

I followed the entire process above, so Ford IDS is also installed. RDT and VX Manager are all I have needed so far.

Linking and Setup
-I connected the vxdiag device to my laptop and open the VX Manager.
-The app recognized the device immediately.

-Clicked on the Diagnostic tab.
-Clicked PASS THRU.
-Installed PASS THRU.

-Installed and registered the Rosh Diagnostic Tool following the Roush clean tech video:
https://www.roushcleantech.com/pcm-programming-with-rdt/
-Opened the RDT app and followed the clean tech video up to the entering the voucher.
All seems legit.

I use the Mouse Jiggler app (Zen enabled) to stop my laptop from hibernating and I’ll be running an ethernet cable out to the garage for the flash.

I plan to post an update once the flash complete. The supercharger should be here in 4-6 weeks.

***Edit*** My PCM flash for the Roush phase 2 supercharger kit was successful!

@SH!FT Hope you don't mind if i resurrect this thread with a question.

Is this misfire profile correction part of the Roush tune? or is it a separate step?

RDT will prompt you to do it during the reflash process.

You'll need to do it if you are replacing the crank pulley. The correction is easy. You'll just rev the engine to 4K a couple of times.

Here's my post on the RDT reflash process: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/boosted-and-interchillin.170024/post-3565028

Thanks, yeah your threads have been helpful since I am doing the same job lol

I think I installed the VCX pass-thru firmware/software in a weird order but its showing as "installed" with the green checkbox like in your example, so hopefully there's no issues.

I did the Ford VCI and IDS install after doing the patch. Then ran the patch again one more time after that hoping it would matter. The reason for all this being, that the ford ids was showing as not install in the My Apps tab. I think it was broken from the initial VX manager install config/setup run. But I followed this blog from their website to fix the issue if anyone is wondering.

Is the correction long? My car is in the garage.

@SH!FT For coolant I have the same concerns as you had. Do I need to bleed the system? Or do I just fill up all the bottles keep running it and topping off as needed?

Also what do you mean by "4) DTC needed to be ignored." I should select skip button instead of cancel ?

Yeah the software install was a little confusing. As long as the RDT "Vehicle ID" function connects to your car you should be good.

The correction revs take less than a minute, but the car with need to idle in the garage for a while. The engine needs to get to temp before some of the prompts during the reflash can be completed.

For the coolant:
The degas bottle is tiny and super easy to over fill. I recommend only half filling the bottle at first.

I've drained and filled the IC coolant a few times now. The first gallon goes in easy. Then I have to force the rest of the air out. Pumping and folding the return hose helps burp it. The coolant foams, so I always have to top it off again the next morning once it settles.
