Hey guys, I'm somewhat active on the forums and creep more than I actually post. I've been fighting the mod bug since I picked up the car 2 months ago and tried to settle with just the Steeda CAI, muffler delete, Steeda progressive springs and a Lund NGuage and tune combo. The car runs great! However, as every car enthusiast knows, we always want more. With that being said, here are the mods I have planned -

- BBK long tube headers. What's the difference between these and some of the more expensive LTH options? These look like a steal at less than $600 for a set!
- Plain ol' cat deletes with the stock headers in place. I believe MAK offers these. Is the power difference/sound noticeable when choosing these over traditional LTH's?

- Catless mid-pipe. I saw on here that someone recently came up with a 3" design that would get rid of virtually all the bottle-necking at this part of the exhaust but I can't find the thread anymore.

- X-pipe or H-pipe. Honestly haven't decided which yet, hard to tell the sound difference in videos. Are there any pros and cons of one versus the other? From what I can, there's no difference from a performance standpoint.

- Cat-back exhaust. I was thinking either Solo street-race or MBRP race.

- Maybe a FF tune from Lund. Don't know how much power I'd actually pick up over regular pump gas though.

Current power mods:
- Steeda CAI
- Lund tune

1) About how much power can I expect to put down with the set-up listed above?

2) I want a violent, possessed sounding exhaust note. Something that breaks necks and scares both adults and children. I want it to snap, crackle and pop. Hell, even a loud backfire with a bang would be nice. :D Will I be able to achieve that with the set-up listed above? (Yes I live in CA but I'm willing to take a risk and deal with local PD. In my experience, they don't bother if you don't give them a reason to.)

3) Do you guys have any vendors that you recommend that may work with me on a bundle deal?

4) Lastly, has anybody installed LTH's in their own garage with basic hand tools? Every shop I've spoken to has downright refused to touch anything that will remove the stock catalytic converters.

I'd love to go F/I with a pro-charger stage-1 Kit but I'm just not a big baller like that yet. :(

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post!

- David

i thought california had smog laws. get an x pipe and some fine tuning.
We do, but, IIRC new cars don't have to be smogged till 5-years after the year they were initially sold. I.e. - I won't have to smog my '15 until 2020. Obviously, the cat deletes will be easier to swap out when the time comes but long tube headers seem to be most people's preferred choice. I'm trying to figure out if the power gained from LTH's justifies not only the price difference, but the difference in terms of how inconvenient they are to install in comparison to basic cat deletes.

What's up man, I follow you on IG! Your car is beast! I think I remember reading somewhere that stainless works headers actually didn't make as much power as comparative headers did. Any merit to that??

I would do full exhaust, call BMR for suspension, shifter and tune.

Thanks for the tips but I've already got my NGuage and Steeda springs! The suspension definitely needs more help in due time though. Hopefully when I'm boosted in a year or two like you.

As far as full exhaust goes, what set-up would you recommend that's somewhat budget friendly? Thanks!

BBK's are that bad?! Good thing I asked. If I'm looking at the right set of SW's then they're only a couple hundred more. Did you install them yourself?

Kooks & Corsa is so expensive! I'm all for quality parts but I'm not ballin' yet! I haven't seen much done in terms of Intake Manifolds for these cars. I know on the previous gen., the CJ manifold swap was a huge mod.

Right now there are great gains on the GT350 intake manny. Of course all in due time, but check out the thread on the forums.

Added to my to-do list! The gains were much better than I expected!

I did a little bit of shopping around and it seems that the MBRP Race and Stainless Works Headers from LMR is a cheaper combo vs the MBRP Race and Pypes Headers from Team Beefcake.

Now, the real question is, which header is better? Pypes or stainless works? And will I be able to run the car while I'm waiting on an updated tune from Lund for the headers?

Edit: Is Stainless Power the same company as Stainless Works? They're listed separately on beefcake's website.

I'm assuming no power differences between the two then? Quality of the work may differ though.. Lol

Was on YouTube and came across Borla ATAK videos and wow, that exhaust is right up there with the Corsa Xtreme in terms of how good it sounds!
