Haven't seen a thread discussing the opinions of the new exhaust on the 5.0 yet. Figured I'd start one. I know a lot of the exhaust clips are pretty limited right now so if we could also try and gather all of them here :)

For me I've overall been pretty happy with the sound. Only found one clip where I disliked it. The 50th anniversary reveal video. As another member put it, it sounded a little raspy.

It sounds nice........a little raspy, perhaps, but nice. It sounds more like the Boss 302 now.

However, I'd still have to have an aftermarket exhaust on it to wake it up, but then it'd only ever be a toy for me, so the louder the better.

I've just swapped out the Flowmasters on my '05 and replaced them with Pypes Bombs........much better. In fact, they were so good I immediately had a Facebook message from a neighbour, joking that I should keep the noise down (he likes it, really) :D

I hired a '13 GT in Vegas for the 50th events, and that sounded nice and I can imagine its fine if driven every day, but I want to be able to feel a V8, not just hear it :)

I really couldn't care what the car sounds like stock as I would be upgrading the exhaust anyway. I bet those SVT quad tip mufflers will be available down the road.

Agreed, don't assume any current '14 exhausts will fit the '15. Even on one of the videos Topnotch posted yesterday, a comment was made that the '15 exhaust takes quite a "tortuous route"........

Does anyone know if the new Stang is going to have an H-Pipe setup like the current model? On this picture, it pretty much looks the same except for the axle area and up towards the front a bit.

Good point on the mufflers. I like the sound of the GT500s. When my vehicle arrives I will measure the stock mufflers and if the dimensions are close or right on I plan to cut the mufflers out and fit the GT 500 mufflers in their place. This way I don't have to wait for the aftermarket and if they fit I am ahead of the game.
I just happen to have a set of GT500s in the box.

I look forward to your "R&D results :)

Regarding the sound, in some videos the stock tone sounds nice, in others I notice the rasp more. I've had aftermarket axlebacks on my 2010 that are of a deeper tone than the stock ones, so I look to replicate that sound. Of course, the 4.6L is different than the 5.0, and the new exhaust routing in the back might have some bearing on the sound.

Lastly, I think we need to hear some more with the next round of prototypes being built, as there still might be some tuning on the sound.

I also agree that the GT500 mufflers on the current 5.0s gets the sound (tone) that I like at the volume I like, especially since I daily drive my car. "Get the tone without the drone"!

My aftermarket exhausts have come from Mustang Racing Technologies (MRT).

Right on Brother! God knows I hope the 2015 mufflers are the same size as the GT500s. And if they are I can't imagine it will be more than 2-3 hrs. work. I will keep you guys posted.

Do we think the 2015 will have the ability to change out the axle backs like the current gen? I hope so. Most of the under car shots show now clamp only welded. Let's hope that's just for the prototype.

Here are the dimensions of the GT 500 mufflers. 6 1/2" High x 12" Wide x 16" Long. (Rounded Off) The 5.0 is the same engine with upgraded internals, Heads, Intake, Cams, Valves, etc. The increased power may change the exhaust dynamics, but if the overall dimensions are the same I'm still going for it. The length of the inlet pipe and outlet pipe are adjustable by length. The real challenge will be to get the correct bend, if required, for proper fitment. My son is a Prototype Specialist on engineering exhaust systems on Audi. Needless to say he will be assigned the task of making them fit.
