275/35ZR20 is the tire you need to pick.

The 275's are only 0.3" taller overall than stock, which mean your car would be 0.15" high off the ground if you compared brand new 265's to brand new 275's.

Additionally, the 275's are rated to fit the 9" wide wheels, give you a little more sidewall bulge with better wheel/rim protection, not to mention a hair more cushion to help prevent tire sidewall bubbles the 265's seem to be known for.

If you have some other concern about going with 275's over 265's, please post your questions before you choose a lesser quality tire.

I have Michelin Pilot sports on my car, have been beating the crap out of them for 12,000 miles, and I have a staggered fitment. I still have 50% tread remaining on the edges up front, and 70% of tread down the middle, with 60% overall in the rear. These tires are awesome, ride smooth, balance wonderfully, don't have the cold tire flat spot syndrome cheaper tires have, and obviously, wear very well.

Has excellent numbers, and I am not sure why you would pick the previous listed Summer Tire over this A/S. Probably something I am missing

those pss are always sold out. They're a great tire, everyone loves them but you gotta pay they ain't cheap.

I like my mickey thompsons though but I might try that new nitto g2. Depends on how long the MT's last. 3k miles on them now and still look brand new.

for warmer weather, I would be less concerned about the summer vs. A/S than the raw numbers. Of course, whether the A/S metrics degrade in hotter temps is another question

My stock Pirellis are now pretty much bald after >18k miles of use and we are heading into a supposedly very heavy rainy season. These Michelins seem eternally out of reach. What is another highly-rated brand I could get my hands on in the next couple weeks? :shrug:

I am different from many posters in that I don't want to deviate from the stock size of 265/35 R20, so I am having a difficult time finding a solution on these threads; thus, it would be great to hear from those who did the same size switch-over. I don't need all-season and I will prolly participate in several more HPDE sessions over 2016, but nothing hardcore. Also, there is no set budget in mind, but we don't intend on spending a huge fortune, either. Thanks and happy new year. :cheers:

Currently I have heard Michelin is working to develop the worlds largest tire facility in China so all the MPSS backorders are due to that and other delays we dont know about.

But there are other good subs for the MPSS you can use as well.

I saw those, too, but they did not get high grades in wet traction by a few people and the overall score showed same. Granted, the few reviews I read of the bunch were not S550 owners.

That information of rubbing is inaccurate. I've had 275/35ZR20 on all 4 corners on 20x9.5" wheels with a 35mm offset without rubbing.

We are only talking about needing 0.15" additional clearance in height and 5mm (or 0.20") extra side-to-side clearance for the additional width.

Choose the Michelin's in 275mm and stop your agonizing, you will be extremely happy with a +10mm tire on the factory wheels. On the 2011-2014 Mustang with the Brembo package that came with 255/40ZR19's on the 19x9" Brembo wheels, lots of people were installing 275/40ZR19's on them, and that was a +20mm bump without clearance issues on the OEM wheels.

And if it happens that a local tire shop told you that 275's won't fit or will have rubbing issues, well there are many reasons why they would tell you that, and none of them are because they have actual experience with these cars.

Conti DWS06 were suggested to me as well, but not by an S550 driver...

I actually don't but....I know a ton of people that have them on different performance cars and they love them. I have had Dunlop on precious cars and they performed flawlessly. If they came in 305/35/20, I would have bought these but they don't :(

I am on Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires.

The Conti Extremecontact DW is also a great tire. Many forum members also have good things to say about Bridgestone S04s.

Conti DW's are good, but get very noisy around half-life, and have a dead-spot immediately off center, like there responding a few milli-seconds after you actually turn the wheel, plus they didn't last anywhere near what the Pilot Sports are.

Super sports also got noisy about 2/3 of the way through their life. Love those tires though.
