I just got a new tune in from Whipple.

While I was pretty much happy with the original tune, minus the closing throttle after 6700 or whatever... this new one has remedied the negligible gripes I could have otherwise had.

Hot start is clean now, no more minor stuttering while getting it going.

Accel / Decel fuel trim has been mellowed out, no more slight pop or jerk when just nudging the throttle from 0-2%.

Stay tuned!
This is GREAT to hear :clap2: and I am looking forward to your dyno numbers! My order was placed on Tuesday. I can't wait :headbang:

Installing headers and clutch right now.

Not gonna lie... If I wasn't already too far in to bail out, I would absolutely not be doing the headers. It's a serious pain in the ass! Not worth it for 25hp or whatever.. And if I don't like the sound I said I would just remove them and sell them... The new thought is that if I don't like the sound i would rather drown myself in my toilet then do this again!

Lol I hope it would at least be a clean toilet [emoji372][emoji102]

I did headers 3 times on my 05' because I'm anal and tried 3 sets till I ended up with Kooks. By the third set I was a pro lol. It's definitely a pain. I found it easier to remove the starter and both engine mounts but it still is tuff.

Don't give up buddy, I'm counting on your review [emoji16]

Question, did you get the green cats or regular cats or no cats? I can't remember.

Jaime

I watched a video of an install and it did look like A LOT of work. I'm looking forward to your opinion after the install to help me decide if I should do this or if it is neglible. Sorry for you to be the guinea pig Charles...but I'm sure it will help others!

That's good to hear, those are the same issues I'm having, talked to Jeff at Whipple last week, he said this week the new revised tune was gonna be available, I wish they could do something for my headers.

What are you doing for tuning after the header install?

The new tune is great! I am sure you noticed my thread where I posted the dyno results from the updated tune? http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22335

They might have made even further updates by now. I wouldnt be surprised if its always evolving for a while longer yet.

As for tuning after the headers, I might not do anything. I will be checking it out on the dyno and I will see whats up and determine if anything needs to change or not. I am not personally of the belief that its going to need it additional tuning for the headers, but I will be sure and find out! I am hoping to not have to touch the tune for this.

Pretty soon I am going to switch to E85 and do custom tuning, and I am hoping to stay on this base Whipple tune for my entire duration of 93 octane. After these headers, that will be my next power/engine modification. But I might worry about the axles first.

Man it wasnt fair of me to post that at the point that I did... it sucks EVEN MORE THAN I KNEW at that moment! lol!!!

I love how the instructions say to torque all the header bolts to factory spec. YAH let me just get the ole' torque wrench up in there. I will be lucky to get a curved open end wrench on a couple of these suckers.

I quit for the night. Drivers side header is IN but none of the bolts are tight. I put the engine mount back in to hold the engine overnight. Tomorrow I will take it out, snug up that header, then probably take a break from the headers and pull the trans out to start on the clutch.

EDIT: I went with the "standard" cats. I didnt even know what the Green cats meant.

This will be a good comparison to see.....I'm going to do the cat delete kit and I believe we have same kit & tune, so we will see what the real difference is.

Nice! Just ordered my Borla Touring to replace my FFRP Sport because I'm "this close [emoji108]" to pulling the trigger on long tubes and green cats. Will be looking out for the updates [emoji3]

o2 transport delay settings and vct optimizations for scavenging.
