OK. I am back to having connectivity issues again. After the soft reset on the phone, it worked twice and then back to the same old thing. I want to make clear that I do not think this is a Sync issue since I am having the same problem with my other cars as well. It is just irritating!

It happens once a week on mine. It will disconnect in the middle of using the phone to stream music. It's very annoying and a major bug with Sync 3 and soft reboots do nothing. Usually I have to forget the connection on both the phone and car and re synchs to get it to work again. There needs to be an update to Sync 3 to fix this annoying bug. Disconnecting the battery or resetting are not real solutions to the issue because it will only happen again!

Are connecting via BT or a lightning cable? iPhone? Model? iOS version? Native music app or streaming service?

I do occasionally use BT, but usually a cable since BT has some serious audio compression (and lower output levels).

For the record, I've never had an issue, but my super power is for tech to always work, so that might be a factor ... :)

Having the same issue I think. 2015 v6 mustang, base SYNC. I usually leave my phone in my pocket and stream music through BT on my commute. As I approached home on Wednesday night, I noticed the next song/previous song buttons stopped working (on the wheel and main console). I thought nothing of it and the next morning, when I press the "media" button to load the BT streaming channel, my music shows up on the central screen and after 5 seconds a pop up appears saying bluetooth device disconnected and then the song that was playing on my phone disappears (no audio is heard during this time). I plugged my USB cable in and switched to USB1 and the music is shown as playing but again, there is no audio (the song is playing though, since the duration keeps counting upwards).

On the trip home yesterday, same thing and in addition, my phone doesn't actually get disconnected from BT as I received a call, which i was able to answer. Unfortunately, there was no audio from their end. I'm lucky in that my mom also has SYNC so I tried both USB play and BT play in her car, both worked fine the first try. I also noticed that in the 5 seconds it takes for my phone to disconnect on Bt streaming, if I switch the audio output on my phone from SYNC, to my phone's speakers, my phone does not get disconnected. It's only when I try to play music through SYNC.

I have done a reset to defaults on SYNC and have unpaired + paired my phone a few times to no success.

It must be my SYNC that is the issue?

Yes, you need to update SYNC.

Mine is already updated to the latest version. That is why in my case, I don't think its Sync but the update i did on my Iphone. Prior to that, no issues.

Hey ThatCanadianGuy,

Since you have already performed a clean pairing and a master reset, I'd like to suggest testing another phone in your vehicle if you can.

I'm curious to find out if this is a compatibility issue with your phone or if the SYNC system in your vehicle needs to be serviced.

Hi Whitney,

This morning I tried following the directions from earlier posts and resetting SYNC by holding down the power & "next song" buttons. Happily, that seems to have done the trick & I'm able to listen to my music again.

Glad to know it wasn't anything serious:D

my base model 2016 has been having few if any issues with bluetooth.

if i was playing BT music when I left the car, it will automatically resume whatever i was last playing when I get back in.

and the best part is - it does this quickly.

How about a thread revival???

I'm having similar issues and trying to work them out. I upgraded from a standard Sync model to a Sync3 from
a member here and it worked out nicely for a while but noticed that capabilities have slowly been chipped away
over the months.

At first Nav, then bluetooth (Fuse fix is only temporary) and finally total meltdown where I cant do much other
than listen to the radio. I am wondering if the sync unit is fryed. I tried doing a soft reset (power button and
right seek aarow) as well as a hard reset but nothing has worked.

Anyone have this problem? Thanks in advance.
