You know guys, after thinking about this a bit I realized my S550 is the first car I've ever owned without a spare tire. But on the other hand I've never had a motorcycle with a spare (since 1969). Now in the last 20 years I've taken maybe a hundred motorcycle trips up and down the east coast, out to the midwest, the Dakotas and California. I've had flats but never been stranded. Fix a flat, Slime, and plug kits were used according to what the problem was and the trip continued.

In contrast, the past 20 years, I've had two flats on 4 wheel vehicles and both times I called AAA. They swapped the spare on for me. So with the S550 I'm now in the position I was on every motorcycle trip except that I have emergency road service and the fix kit and a pump. I have no worries. I drove to Texas and back in March and never had a concern about tire issues. I don't think I need a spare because of the road service coverage, the fix kit and a cell phone. I'm good! :headbang:

I carry a can of fix a flat that is sensor friendly.
won't help if you blow out the sidewall, which is what happened to me with a deep water filled pothole... no amount of tire sealant will save you from that :(

with my old s197 GT track pack (brembo), i bought a single used brembo wheel and tire, deflated it, and stuffed it in my tire well with a jack and tool kit i got from the wreckers. it sucked having the load floor raised up but i wasn't going to be stuck in the middle of the night in the rain for 2 hours because roadside assistance couldn't find me in the dark... can someone tell me why ford couldn't make the tire well just that much bigger? is it too much to ask for?!?
