Chipped GT Performance Package Wheels

I got a really good deal on a brand new set of GT Performance Package wheels and tires. They just arrived today and I found a chip, that could have happened during shipment, but I'm working that out with the seller now.

My question is, why does it appear hollow under there? Is this anything to be concerned about or will a simple rim patch job take care of it? See attachment.

Other than this one spot, they are pristine.

My rim guy confirmed it wasn't structural, only cosmetic, and seller agreed to pay $100 for the repair, so all is good.
