How soon after you guys got your cars did you install the performance pack 2? Did everyone wait to put some miles on her before installing or did anyone just go for it?

Also, I see that for the warranty to be valid that is has to be installed by Ford. How much do they charge for installation?

Probably won't matter when - it is when you are comfortable with making modifications. If Ford does the install there is warranty - probably just need to read the fine print but there are two good reasons to get them:

1. 50 state legal
2. Warranty if done by Ford Service (may need to be also performance parts(?))

Most go with option 2 since it is the best bang for the buck. Next you need to decide if you are staying N/A or going to be using FI. Personally I have stage three on my list to buy since I'll be staying N/A and prefer the extra RPM's. Although I do need to ask myself if that is really important and something I'll use (doubt it) so may stay with 2

That is an interesting question, I guess it would depend on what your base mustang is model wise, then what your personal preference regarding how you drive. Track, drag, daily driver, bla, bla, bla.

Scanning the forums it seems most people have a vague idea and start from there. Personally I go with suspension and stopping since adding power requires putting it to the ground for use, and then stopping. GT/PP is good for me experience level but wanting to take it out on a road course / track once or twice a year it is curves / suspension. Means adjustable shocks and struts, then billet rear shock mounts, then cradle lockout, then front/rear springs. Tires of course. Then cat back exhaust.

Once finished I'll take stock of how it all felt together (not done yet) and focus a small bit on engine in the form of a performance pack / tune combo. Since I live in Ca I have rules to play by but you get the idea. Get an idea, and go from there. No need to go for a home run by adding a blower when you can't put the power to the ground - in my opinion anyway.

Edit: Lots of smart people here and posts to read. That is what I did anyway since my last mustang was a 89 LX. A lot has changed since then.

I put mine on when the car had 400 miles. No looking back. With the new tune I am as happy as a clam!

Installation of PP2 by ANYONE does not affect the 3/36K factory warranty on failures of and caused by parts the vehicle was originally manufactured with.

To get a warranty, which is separate from the factory warranty in everything except for expiration date, on the newly installed parts you must have PP2 installed by an ASE certified technician. This will only cover something if the PP2 is the cause of the failure. Otherwise the original factory warranty is still covering it.

If you have 20K+ miles or a 2015 there will be minimal benefit to paying somebody else to install it if you are capable yourself. The warranty on PP2 still ends at the 3yr/36K mark of ownership.

I had my car for a year and a half give or take and 12k miles when I had PP2 installed.

I guarantee Ford and your dealer will say the Ford Performance parts you installed caused the failure of the original manufactured parts.

There is no way the PP1 or PP2 could cause a valve to fall, flexplate to crack, OPG to strip, cam chain to fail... etc.

and according to the bathtub curve, at 15,000+ miles you're unlikely to see a manufacturing defect anymore, only random failures.

Yea that would be my only concern. Some miniscule underlining issue that pokes its head after I install the kit. My luck that would happen. I'm at 13k miles and once this revised tune is mass released I am prob installing myself.
