I realize that mine is a 3.55 non-torsen (not that that matters if its ring&pinion related) assy but I had a whine that started around 900 miles(it has 6800 now). The whine got moderately worse as time has went on. I added BMR cradle lock outs and that made it a little more noticeable. My plan was to eventually swap in a 3.73 out of 6sp but it just got to the point that I decided to break down and take it to the dealer for warranty. Long story short, they ended up replacing the ring and pinion. Apparently the outer pinion bearing was "faulty" and the pinion gear had 0 preload. That obviously screwed up the ring & pinion alignment and led to improper contact resulting in whining. They replaced it, seemed to have done a great job and its quiet as a mouse. Even with the cradle locks installed.
