Picked up a PedalMax on a Black Friday Special and am getting ready to install it. However some of these new fangled wire connectors drive me nuts figuring them out. The instructions say to remove the factory throttle position sensor from the top of the gas pedal by raising the red tab and push in on the connector to release.

On the connector that came with the PedalMax it appears that the red tab does not move, at least not in the position that it was received in.

Any words of advice, secrets or videos that may be of assistance in teaching an old dog new tricks before I jump in head first and do something stupid?

Thanks in advance,

By the time I get my big old body down under the dash I'm going good to get out, least of all trying to have figured that OEM trick out.

Again, Thank You!!

Open garbage bin

Insert pedal max

Job done

Certainly don’t need any pedal box, the 10spd is already jerky enough

I had one of these in the Jeep SRT, best mod I made was removing it
NO, I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!

I guess it would all depend as to what you are expecting from the purchase and adding it to your vehicle.

I did finally get around to getting it installed and all wrapped up. And while I haven't taken the time to experience it on the road, I did make a few runs up the driveway at various settings of power levels.
In the off position it is as expected pure stock acceleration. At 100% it is an all new beast that waste no time turning the tires, laying some rubber and launching forward at an inertia feeling that turns quickly from startled to ear to ear grins.

Does it add HP or TQ...NO! Does it add seat of the pants fun...you bet it does! Do I feel that it was worth the $245 it cost delivered to my front door and included the adjustable impute control knob...sure.

It is a toy, just as the Mustang is, and the compliment each other well. I don't think that I could drive it at 100% as a daily driver mod, it is plain and simple to touchy for in town traffic. For that fact at 100% impute it may also be too touchy for back road twist and turns as the power comes on too fast.

Now, I just need to get up off of my Butt and install that new cat back exhaust system that I have been walking around in the garage now for 7 weeks or so.

bjstang, I appreciate your assistance on figuring out that OEM electrical connector, once you know the secret it's a piece of cake...LOL

Pressing your gas pedal down faster does the exact same thing as a pedalmax. It doesnt increase throttle response because the throttle body is controlled by the ecu not your foot.

There is a slight lag between pressing the gas pedal down and the ECU relaying the information to the throttle body in stock configuration. With the pedamax this lag time is diminished and the communications between the ECU and TB is more instantaneous.

I was doubtful before I ordered the Pedalmax, but having experience with a like product that was designed to fool the ECU in spooling up the turbo on a Ecoboost F150 with great results, I figured that I had nothing to loose in trying the Pedalmax.

From making runs after the installation of the Pedamax set a different settings, all with the same application of the foot to pedal to floor I can state that there is a difference in negating the OEM lag.

Loved the Pedal Max on my '15 GT. Took it off before trading it in and planning on putting on my Bullitt when I get time.

Again

On the 10 speed

It’ll be garbage

I had a 300 SRT8 and it made it more peppy

On the 8 Speed it was rubbish

Tried it in a few cars, and again it was ok on the old Chrysler with the dinosaur gearbox

What you want is an increase in throttle resolution, these devices decrease it

There’s no throttle lag on the 10spd

As it stands it’s jerky enough

And in a 2018 when your foot is through the firewall commanding 100% throttle is the ecu is retarding the throttle for any reason, an interceptor box on the accelerator pedal isn’t going to do shit

OK, now that you have gotten that out of your system, let's move along now. Of course I will be moving along with a quicker reaction time now that I am making use of my newly installed Pedalmax….LOL!!!

The only negative that I have found with the Pedalmax is when backing out of my lower level garage. Once I clear the garage door I have our 5th wheel RV parked on one side and the other side is a wall where the driveway to the upper level garage doors are.

Problem is that if I leave the PM set a 100% the Mustang jack rabbits in reverse. I just need to remember to either turn the PM off or at least down by 40%

On the plus side, if I get tired of it on the Mustang it will also fit my 2013 F350 6.7PSD or 2013 Taurus SHO
