Looks more like aluminium corrosion pushing the paint up, then it rubs, rather than rubbing causing the corrosion. Haven't seen it on the US sites so maybe down to our use of grit coupled with poor prep for paint.
Agreed. Certainly looks the case on Monty's.

Must be our big dunbo mirrors! - They have smaller mirrors in the US
