So, we just bought this car used last week. It's a 2022 and we dropped the top for the first time on Saturday. Everything seemed fine until we tried to roll the windows back up. The pass side rear window went up at an angle and left a 2" gap towards the top (with 0 gap at the bottom). It went up all the way, but rotated backwards, like it was falling down into the car. Our temporary solution was to roll it down slightly, I pulled it forward into place and the wife rolled it back up. It stays in place without issue once it's up and washing the car showed 0 signs of leaking.

I've got a panel tool kit coming from Amazon so I can pull the rear panel off and look inside, but Im thinking there is something loose that is allowing this rotation to happen. When the window was slightly lowered, I could easily pull it back into place and it just immediately fell backwards again. The drivers side window does not do this at all.

I have a friend that sent me the Ford service manual pages for adjusting the rear windows, so I will follow that once I get it apart. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Most posts I see are just the windows not going all the way up and requiring silicone to help them.

I've not experienced that ....yet. Hope the repair doesn't involve much, to where the person who sold it is kick themselves for not fixing it themselves.

The car was originally part of a rental fleet, then sold off to a couple of different dealers before we got it. (maybe there was a real owner in between the rental company and the dealership swap game). Who knows how long the window has been like that. If the top wasn't put down, you'd never know there was a problem (we obviously didn't, and didn't drop the top for the test drive). I read over the instructions I was given and it seems the hardest part is removing the rear panel to access the adjusting screws/bolts. Then it's just "put the top down, roll up the windows, measure things, make adjustments, put the top up, roll the windows up again, rinse/repeat" until it all lines up. If something is actually broken, we're just taking it to a shop to have it fixed. I'm not exactly an experienced mechanic, but I know which end of a screwdriver to use, and know my limitations.

The tracks get sticky. If you take to the dealer, they will clean the tracks thoroughly and apply some lubrication. I don't have a convertible but have several friends that have had the issue and simply lubricating the guides fixed them...

I had a similar problem with the passenger side window leaving a gap when closed. I went to YouTube and 95% of the videos tell you to clean and lubricate the track. It helped but didn’t solve my problem completely. I found one video where the guy pulled the panel and exposed the bolt that holds the glass in place. This allowed me to make a small adjustment on the window itself, problem solved. I still clean and lube it once in awhile. You can tell by the way it goes up when it’s time. I pasted the link to the video below. Good luck….

that video was quite helpful. It also led me to another video of a "hack" that doesn't require any lubricant and showed me something valuable at the same time. So the hack was latching the roof, the unlatching it and pushing up on it slightly. Then rolling the windows up and relatching the roof. Obviously that's not the proper solution to fix the issue, but it could work in a pinch.

What I did learn however from watching him demonstrate this "hack" repeatedly was how the windows actually move. Me being a first time convertible owner and first time Mustang owner, I had no clue how those rear windows were supposed to operate. I just assumed they should be solidly fixed to the regulator like most other car windows. I thought the way it rotated front to back was due to a loose bolt or something being broken, not that it was part of the designed operation of the window. Now the entire "sticky" track makes much more sense to me.

It's all one big learning curve here.

I had a very similar problem with my 2022 convertible and mine also had the gap when it was closed like ResucueLt described. Mine was still under factory warranty so I brought it to the local dealership and they fixed it. I believe they told me that it just needed an adjustment and it has worked correctly since they fixed it.
