Now come on ... don't start making this personal or we're gonna have a problem. Listen, when someone parks out by themselves and someone parks right next to them instead of a space or two over there is something that's not quite right. You may think it's all fine and dandy, but to tell you the truth you seem to be the only one here trying to tell everyone to "get over it".

Well guess what ... I'll never get over some dickweed parking right next to me when I'm way out by myself and he's got literally dozens of other spaces to park in. Granted, if it's another nice sports car then I don't think too much about it, but if it's some piece of shit then it's pretty obvious the idiot isn't doing it to "protect his car", or mine. They are doing it to screw with people. And frankly, I don't like people who screw with me, and that includes getting personal on a chat board.
Like it or not, when you park out in no man's land, you're making your car a target for people. Save yourself the grief and park a handful of spaces past the last car.

I think most people are irritated and annoyed by those who park far away in the back of parking lots, so they want to take revenge. People who park far away and also park sideways across two spots are even more hated. Sorry, but that's the way it is. If you park far away in a parking lot you are bothering people and you might expect that occasionally someone will take the bait and do something to your car.

I just park at the closest open spot, just like I would if I were driving the most ancient, rusty, beat-up vehicle around. When I treat my GT like it's just another car I don't irritate others and I find they don't go after my car. Those are my thoughts.

What if your being on a forum irritated people, would you stop doing that? :p

Its non of their business, they have nothing to get irritaded, its not their property, its yours and you want to protect your money which is smart. If you park far away you also have to walk more and most of the people in the states don't like that, so if they still park next to you, they are doing themselves a torture as well so they shouldn't dare :tsk:

As said earlier, people need to just leave other people alone. Parking out far away from others is doing zero harm or infringing on absolutely nobody - how the hell it is "bothering someone" except in their twisted head.

People who screw with other people for no reason except to irritate them have a mental problem. I think they need the shit beat out of them if they are bothered enough over it to vandalize someone's car ... that's my thoughts. :D

I'm not saying they are correct, just telling you how people think. People get envious of other people's possessions - and when you park like you think your car is "special", you should have enough common sense to realize you will irritate people. Some will give in to that feeling.

it has an engine!
I park away from people too. Personally it doesn't matter if im driving something older or new. I hate parking lots that are sloped down away from the building, rogue carts are always a concern. I think people feel because we park away from everyone else that we think we are better then everyone else and want to separate ourselves because our shit as they say, doesn't stink. Unfortunately that's not why, its just because majority of people don't take care of their cars the same way. Its a never ending battle. It used to really bother me too. It still does, but not as much. I try to park next to grass or all concrete islands near the end of the lot.

Yes, I know how mentally twisted people think - I've ran into quite a few in my lifetime. If parking out away in one spot upsets somebody enough to make them take some kind of vengeful action on the car, then they shouldn't be too surprised when somebody takes action upon them. People who vandalize other peoples property for no other reason than plain jealousy are basically sociopaths.

There are only a small handful of places with lots that I'll park my Mustang -- places where most people parking are part of a community of sorts, like at the climbing gym I belong to -- I trust them more than half the people at my condo complex. At home I leave it covered during the week in a spot between where a guy keeps his motorcycles covered up. There are plenty of places with garages here, and then I'll happily go all the way to the top, and normally there aren't but a few cars up there -- I'm out of sight, out of mind then.
I'll just add that parking next to me isn't vandalism, even at the climbing gym, I tend to go for spots next to a curb, and when I can at a restaurant with a lot rather than someplace with a garage I can park on top of, I'll park it somewhere that I can see it while I'm sitting -- if nothing else, I can look at it and ogle my car, knowing it's waiting for me. And of course maybe to pummel someone who opens their door into my car.

this is why i always just park next to an island or a crosswalk, and not intentionally park in the middle of nowhere.

there's a spot at work i always next to the crosswalk, and just park extra close to it, so no matter what, they wont be able to open a door wide enough to make contact.

Good strategy. With one of my cars a shopping cart got it really good -- it wasn't in the middle of nowhere, but it was at a grocery store with a lot that sloped away from the entrance -- you know where this is going... Most of the grocery stores I go to now have lots that slope towards the entrance, so parking further away, or off to the side makes plenty of sense. I generally just don't get groceries with the Mustang, though.

If you walk into a rest room with 10 urinals, do you take the one right next to the only guy in there using it? I didn't think so ... :D
Agree. It's like walking into a movie theater with one person in it, and sitting right next to him!
