Damn. Last article I read just said a plane went down, this makes things a lot more interesting.

I don't think Russia wants problems with NATO, so I'm sure they'll back off on this issue.

It is a plan, but is it the best plan? It very well might be. The problem with planning for other people to do the job is hoping and assuming they do it to your satisfaction. Sometimes the saying is true, if you want something done right sometimes you have to do it yourself. With other countries taking the responsibility they will put their needs over ours, which is fair. We still get left with the residual threat and hoping our interests are secured. This is probably the most complex foreign policy challenge in decades.
I agree with your points. And this complex foreign policy challenge is what happens when you and other powers share a common enemy that, as of recent events, just love to make more and more enemies and piss off the wrong people. And while at the same time, have a massive influence spread, which is to me honestly, is pretty scary but that's still another topic.

And as for the jet going down, the article almost makes it seem like it was a massive miscommunication error and Turkey wants to talk before more fingers are being pointed at. Probably more info will come forward before anything can be rightly determined.

Su-24 shot down by F-16's (didn't stand a chance) but was apparently warned 10 times.. Turkey probably wants people to know they're not playing about their air space.

I do not blame them for taking action. Russian aircraft have entered their airspace multiple times over the past month so this was bound to happen at some point. I talked about this at work a couple of weeks ago.

Gotta cut them purse strings. Nothing more dangerous than a well-funded idea. I see it every day at work - cut the funding and progress drops dramatically.

Turns out these two roamed free also. I'm way more concerned about these types than the one off nut job.
What was supposed to be done? He was armed legally. To stop him you're talking about giving a bit of what is argued as his 2nd amendment rights or his 4th amendment right as a citizen.. the only outside indicator would've been his wife, meanwhile the NSA is scaling back collection efforts due to outrage over surveillance. People have to decide what they want.
