On Sunday I went for a drive in the Mustang, with my family to a nice restaurant by the water (more on that later) and lo and behold, there was a Mustang already there!

After a bit of food I went back to the car to get a jacket out, and the car parked next to the TY had left, so I took the opportunity to join it...

Eventually the pilot turned up, so I paused lunch and went and had a chat - they were being lent it by a friend! Their own Ruby Red was still a way off. Good friend :)

Another (older) couple took a few snaps of the Mustangs and told me that they had a friend who was a mad Mustang fan, it was his birthday and they were sending him some snaps as a birthday present.
Their friend had previously owned a Ford GT (!) but had sold it to buy a caravan to do some roadtripping around AU.
Good taste :) (well, the GT and the Mustangs, anyway)

Finally, I got talking to the owner of the restaurant, and he often has car clubs and events there (Alfa 4C had some kind of launch event there, for example), and (of course) he was keen to see a Mustang showing there, being a Mustang fan himself...

So after we get the other Sydney meet/cruise out of the way, I'll start getting some details together for a meet/cruise to this restaurant and we can get some more nice pics of the Ponies at the watering hole :D
going off topic here but if there's one thing that pisses me off about cars and car dealerships - it's dealerships that brand their own number plates. i saw this in the UK a few years ago and have noticed the scourge appearing in Aus now.

when I pick up my car I expect to be a very happy fellow. i'm not measuring panel gaps down to the last micron or scouring the paintwork for the slightest smudge or expecting Bentley quality from a Ford. However, if they've put their name on the number plates I will vomit on the floor of the showroom and explain in the nicest possible manner that I didn't buy a new car so that I could drive around with a banner advertising their f***ing car yard to the world. What's the go, do they give people discounts to do this or do they reckon you won't notice?

I'm feeling better now that I've got that off my chest. I'll finish my cuppa and vegemite toast now.

The latter - same reason people get the standard plate holders (or those slightly weird ones on this one) - they figure people don't care/won't notice, so they get some "free" advertising.

I hate stickers and the like, so I'm torn - there's a Flatrock Michigan sticker on my windscreen that I might leave :/

Also reminds me - I couldn't get the window sticker - apparently Ford is removing them for us because of the potential misrepresentation :(

With you all the way on this. I reckon they think people won't notice. The first thing I did when I bought a second-hand car recently was rip off the dealer stuff around the plates. Looks so much better without that plastic crap.

I don't understand why anyone would let them do this to their car. It's buying, say, an Adidas tracksuit and having a big Amart Sports or Myer or whatever sticker permanently attached to the top of the jacket, just so everyone knows where you bought it from. I wouldn't even accept it for free dealer delivery. Dealers are just people doing a job, but it's not business to be advertising for them.

Another thing to add to the list of stuff I need to ask the dealer NOT to do. Sigh.

Put a request in writing stating that no dealership stickers be applied to your car. I did this and dealer was happy to comply. Sticker free car.:D

Agreed, it was quite hilarious actually as it was his misses who signed and she was a self proclaimed contract expert

yeah, the stickers and plate holders don't bother me. it's part of the new car ritual to rip all that shit off and chuck it in the bin as soon as i get home. maybe i enjoy it:eyebulge: but branded plates that can't be changed :paddle:

you guys must have bought your cars from dealers with no care factor about the customer or the mustang. I am happy to display the dealership sticker on the back window of my stang as I was looked after to buy and still looked after with servicing from Clancy's in Bathurst just waiting for my second one to come in and will drive up from Sydney and enjoy the drive home satisfied with the deals and service's
cheers tim

My dealer's performance has already been rewarded by way of monetary profit, assistance in meeting a sales target and the likelihood of securing my scheduled servicing.

Ongoing advertising wasn't a part of the deal.

Well they can use the money I paid them to put advertising all over their own cars. My dealer was good, but I worked hard to buy this car, so it'll look exactly how I want it to look haha

I also gave them a favourable survey, including strongly agreeing with that silly question about loving the Ford dealership.
