Might be related or might not be but there was an incident last year or so that was on the Pistonheads forum. Premiereship footballer in his high powered car was driving within the speed limit approached a cross roads with a green light. He proceeded through the green light and was then confronted by a cyclist who had run a red light that went straight under his wheels and crippled him. I believe the footballer/his insurance still had to pay out compensation to the cyclist despite the cyclist being held 100% account.

Not sure of the exact details as it was a while ago.

After watching this all the way through I think the bike caused the accident and his guilt is what made him pull over afterwards.

Him stopping at the broken light rather than just slowing down caused the woman in the grey car to think that he had a red light in that direction. She was then of course surprised by the mustang shooting through ;)
Well said. There's something I didn't consider.

The motorcyclist caused the entire crash by stopping when he had right of way. The only car behind him was the Mustang who was tootling along on the outside of the dual carriageway. The idiot driver of the little car assumed because the biker stopped the Mustang would stop (perhaps he thought the lights were working on the bikers side).

Accidents often happen like this. The one who's actions started the whole thing then acts the sanctimonious virtue signaller by posting on line.

Bikers need to ride sensibly not just with extreme caution, he should have slowed to speed where he could avoid the little car if it turned but not stopped, giving the idiot the nod to turn.

Just looked again and you can even see the actual nod the biker gives to the little car to proceed at 28 seconds in.
Hmm... pretty harsh to say the biker 'caused' it, but I can see your point.

I guess the oncoming car saw the biker stop and thought safe to proceed - maybe thought there was a left filter. Self preservation by the biker, but slowing would have been better than a full stop to give way perhaps.

That said, the small car should still have observed the ruddy great blue Mustang coming toward them at speed!

having viewed this again. I don't think the Mustang's speed is excessive for the road. The junction to the left has clear signs for a 30 therefore the dual carriageway must be at minimum a 40. The Mustang driver appears to be doing the speed limit or lower. The fact he goes past the stationary bike at speed is in my view all relative.

The car turning is the cause of the accident. Had they not turned across oncoming traffic then no accident as the Mustang would have proceeded unhindered. I concede that the Mustang should have noticed the lights were out, but as the traffic with right of way, I would say at max 25% fault given the circumstances of the lights being out. 100% to 75% at fault of the wee old lady.

Yes, but you are not factoring in all circumstances. You need to come up with where the blame should be proportioned and then add 50% to the Mustang driver because he is driving a Mustang....so it must be his fault.

So, you are giving the Mustang 25% blame. Add to that the 50% for being a Mustang driver and that makes it 75% his fault.

In addition to this, he looks young. You need to add 25% for this so he is 100% to blame.

Its the law!

BUT it was one of the slowest colours, not the fastest (red) so could he have been doing more than 40 in the first place?! Food for thought...

If it had been a sensible colour like, say Orange, the shitbox would have seen him coming.

Bike was red so it was quite possible the slow blue was trying to get the jump on the faster colour
