Still having a hard time deciding which option to go with.
Living in Canada I'll only be driving the mustang in the summer. But given there are a lot of days that start off cold and end up nice and warm, I'm thinking I'd be better off without the Sumer tires. Reading all the complaints about the summer tires in the cold is kind of scary.
Seems wasteful to have to order a set of all season tires along with the new car.
I doubt I'll ever take the car to the track either, just enjoy it as a daily driver. Any thoughts. Is it worth getting the PP for just a daily driver?

My situation is somewhat similar (except for the weather). I live in Seattle where we got a lot of rain in the winter and some colder temps - still probably too cold for the Pirelli tires. I am planning to order new wheels (hate the painted black ones that come with the PP) and Michelin Super Sport tires (still a summer tire). I too only expect to drive my Mustang in the summer or nice spring and fall days. Never in the rain. I am going with the PP because I drove both PP and non-PP and the difference in handling was quite different - I like the PP car much better. Good luck with your decision.

It depends on what you want. For me, the brakes alone were worth it. Plus, I like the wheels on the PP. I have never been a fan of buying aftermarket wheels. However, I will be changing out the tires to Michelin pss.

Well I know I totally want the PP. In Canada its an extra $3700, plus probably another $1500 for a set of tires. All of the sudden its over $5k more for the PP...that's a hard pill to swallow!

I like big brakes so I wanted it. Plus, I know I'd feel inadequate on that day you poull up next to a PP car at the lights if I didn't have it. In my eyes it takes absolutely nothing away from the streetability of the car and you get a lot for what you pay for.

I am in Canada (Mississauga), too. I have a GT PP, just couldn't resist the black wheels, the big brembos, the engine turned PP dash with the added gauges, etc...

You do need winter tires - I have ordered Blizzak LM-32-s with the car (255/40-19 front, 275/40-19 rear - matching the factory PP wheels) for an extra 1800CAD (from the Ford dealer, tax incl. - might be cheaper elsewhere). Now I have two set of tires (I got the summer Pirellis in plastic bags) so they should last longer that one set of All Seasons.

The car is great, the 3.73 rear axle ratio is ideal for city driving - I can comfortably shift to 5th gear at around 50km/h and the quick shifting gives a sporty sensation. The ride is great, although I do feel the bumps in the road - it just comes with the stiffer suspension.

One more factor I considered: I spent a substantial amount on this car and I plan to daily drive it for long time. I just don't ever want to sit in my new car looking at someone else's one thinking that I am missing out something that guy has... So I went with the fully loaded option (Premium 401A, PP, Nav, Premiere Trim, etc.. all the goodies...)

I'm happy so far :-)

Go PP, you will regret it otherwise. Don't loose a bunch of sleep over the performance summer tires. If it is getting chilly, drive conservatively and you will be fine. I have driven MPSS in cold weather and rain etc, as long as you aren't slamming your foot into the floor, take time to start and stop you will be more than fine.

If you are going to drive it with any amount of snow on the ground you will need winters. If you don't want to spend 2k on wheels and tires for the winter, go get a beater civic for the winter and store you Mustang.

Here's another vote for going with the PP.

I was also on the fence whether I should order the PP or not. My main concern was if the PP would result in a harsh ride due to the stiffer suspension. (I'm all for as comfortable a ride as possible.) But I also like the fact of having the larger brakes and radiator. And although it's mainly aesthetic, having those two gauges in the center of the dash just re-affirms that's she's a Mustang. For me, those gauges were a "Must Have" lol.

The stock suspension and brakes are very good and actually better than my 12' 5.0 brembo package was. If you were planning on tracking (not 1/4 mile) the PP would be a no brainer.

Replacement tires will be expensive as you mentioned and can't be rotated to help increase longevity. Torsion is nice but 3.73's are too much gear for the MT82 gearing. The rest of the package is very good and a great bargain.
I passed on the PP without regret as it performs well enough for my daily driver needs. The PP wheels are very cool but I'm getting 20's.

I love my PP. Cannot imagine getting a new '15GT without it to be perfectly honest.

Go with the performance package. It gets expensive adding in calipers, sway bars and other aftermarket parts. Don't forget the Torsen differential, its included in the PP.

I didn't read all the posts, so forgive me if I'm just reiterating what someone else said.

I want to begin autocross, after photographing it last season and going for a few ride along's. I also really want to get on the track, not necessarily to go all out and set the fastest time possible, but just to have fun driving hard, legally. Also, going fast through canyons is a lot of fun, and there are quite a few in Utah.

The Performance Package adds the Torsen rear dif, and even though the 3.73's are not great for autocross, they will be great for my other "wants" The brakes, again, overkill for autocross, but perform well at the track (based on reviews and other forum members) the improved cooling is another huge benefit.

All of these features really add to the appeal of the PP, aside from the suspension changes, strut brace and k-brace. If I were just in to spirited driving, I think a standard GT would be enough, but I really want to get on track, and for the small entry fee of $2500, it is definitely (to me) worth it. It means if I ever get to the point I can take full advantage of the S550 chassis, I'm not spending money on bigger brakes, and better cooling because it's already there ready to go.
