My son is working towards a couple of modifications to his Mustang this summer. One of them is dual, wide racing stripes, (probably matte black) preferably bumper to bumper, but perhaps hood, roof, rear deck, only. One option I've heard of is Big Worm Graphix, they look pretty good.

What are some of the other options out there? Pros and Cons.

What is a reasonable price to apply these?

How hard is it to do it yourself?

All responsive comments appreciated.

well, matte stripes are going to be harder to maintain than gloss imo. my friends matte stripes looked strange on his gloss paint. he went to gloss eventually.

The stripes I had put on are by prodesignseries.com but I don't remember what vendor I used. The installer was happy with quality, I used the 1080 film. It's a dry install that took half the time as wet. I had mine installed at a small town custom sign shop that a local body shop sends all there stripe work to. He charged $150 to install but the education from watching was worth that alone, I wouldn't have tried it myself but now I wouldn't hesitate to do it if needed again. Jim

I Installed the big worm kit in matte black just a few weeks ago. Kit seems good quality and the larger sections are fairly easy to apply wet. The little bumper/trunk pieces which there are many are a pita. A ton of measuring as each piece was separate in the kit I received

Having never installed a stripe kit before it took me a long time. Prob 8ish hours. Most of that was finding the best spots to measure from for me. Measure 10 times, tape it down. Measure, bump it, retape apply..
Usually how it went. I could prob do it in about 4hrs now.

I was quoted $900-1500 by local installers. None of the local ones to me would use big worms kit. They all wanted to use their own.
Kit came out great though, saved some cash, and had some fun installing. I got some great pre cleaner, and applicant instead of water that was recommended. Made it so much easier. If interested I'll grab a pic of them when I get home. Also recommend getting a generic vinyl install kit with all the different size squeegees. Super helpful around the vents, ducts whatever.

This stuff along with a heat gun. Only used the heat gun heavily on severe bends mostly like the wrap around underside of good areas. Roof to windshield gap etc. on low setting. My heat gun only has a high/ low, results will vary depending on brand.

The applicant is great you have plenty of time to adjust but it does take a while to dry. Unless your heavy with the heat. Got it on Amazon, little pricey, but have plenty leftover. Had zero air bubbles, they squeegeed right out no issue. I also did the installation in a cool closed garage.

I let the car sit out in the sun for a full day when finished before driving, as was recommended to me by a friend who does these fairly frequently. Checked on the stripes throughout the day. Touched up where needed on heavy contours. Like gentle push or squeegee to make sure everything was good. Been good ever since. No lifting or any other issues.

Hope that helps. Worked for me anyway.
